Inside??? Doesn't sound very inviting. Flies carry more disease than mosquitos. I think its probably from all those peanut shells on the floor. I don't like that restaurant, I never feel its very clean in there.

I agree Kathie. We do our walk every morning at Sumpter Landing, and go past Cody's every day. All we see is peanut shells on sidewalk and pressure sprayed into the Lake. But, the biggest problem we see, is bird poop on chairs, railings and on ground, while they are already putting out the condiments for the day. The birds are flying in and out of the outside area, doing their thing!! If you look at the chairs out there, you will see the poop. We sometimes see the person who hoses down, in the morning, spraying the shells towards the lake. I'm surprised the health dept doesn't say anything, unless they are within the limits of, thats all they have to do? I'm sure inside is cleaner, I would think? Maybe they need a high powered vacuum to pick up the shells, but the bird poop, I don't know. I'm not evaluating the food, just the cleanup issue.

HEY...they are gonna crum up Lake Sumter washing their shells into the lake!!!!. That is almost as bad as pee.

Whazzamatta those lazy bums?

I hope the peanut shell patrol catches em. ;)

I winked, but I am kinda serious. That is like sweeping dirt under the rug.

My mom woulda frowned on that cleaning process, for sure.

There are commercial grade fly control devices that can be installed for a minimal price.

I'm sure the manager already knows.

I took my Mom there 4 yrs ago and the flies were so bad inside, we hardly spoke cause they would fly so close to our mouths, we thought they'd fly in. Gross.

They landed on our salad, drinks, steak, you name it.

A manager would have to be blind not to see them all over the windows, chairs and tables.

We never went back. And all windows and doors were closed, so they weren't coming in that way. I guess they just live in there. Wonder how many live in the kitchen?????????????????

People open the doors all night. Flies come in. Plus they have an open bar.

Codys is having some real issues right now I wonder if there isn't a huge change coming to that location. Things have really went downhill there for the last 18 months lots of issues the only thing it really has to offer is the location and the nightly music when you look what is around that there are not any good alternatives As far as inside seating with good music And the music at times is not good, They had a gal there last year that had a bunch of recorded soundtracks and sang with some them kind of like her own personal karaoke. city fire is really cutting into there bussiness.

What could a manager do ?

Give fly swatters to each customer and the one with the most flies at a certain time gets a free rounds of drinks.

No flies, no peanut shells, no bird poop, great music! What else could you ask for?

I'm there about 5 nights a week. What kind of issues are you talking about ? I think most of the entertainment is great. Dunning Shaw, Mark Seymour & Suzie Casta. A lot of them sing with music tracks. There isn't any room for a band.

Cody's always has an "old oil" smell to it. I haven't been back there since 2010...greasy food isn't my thing.

The only issue with Cody's I have heard about on TOTV is the one proved to be false about a waitress telling an amputee veteran his son should not look at FOX News. That was a couple of years ago and was a very strange thread on TOTV.

Cody's is a great place with a super staff and excellent management. The restaurant has no health issues with peanut shells on the floor and I seriously doubt if they sweep them into Lake Sumter.

Go there, sit at the bar, and have a Barburger. Where else can you get an excellent hamburger for $2.50 and ice-cold beer to boot?

Their "after church" specials on Sunday are an unbeatable bargain with the entire dinner for $8.99.

Cody's is around to stay for a long, long time and it has a booming business from opening until closing. No issues at all!

Won't eat outside at Cane Gardens because of the bird poop.
won't eat at China Buffet becuase they got closed down
and certainly won't eat at Cody's because i don't want to have to compete with flies over who eats my food.
Went to cody's once when it first open and have not been back since.

Health Inspectors passed Giovanni's with absolutely no violations as well as the Son Rise Cafe. Now that is impressive

The problem with Cody's is the open window at the bar which is a freeway for flies.

Cody's Roadhouse was not in The Villages 4 years ago!

I've heard that Cody's Restaurant offers a fly soup special this time of year, very reasonably priced.

As far as birds on the patio, I think you'll notice birds on any restaurant patio, it's not unique to Codys. It's part of patio dining.

Was at Publix today and bought sandwich meat. While my meat was being weighed on the scale, the server turned to slice more meat and a fly landed on my meat. I asked them to get me different meat as there was a fly on it. They weren't pleased but I'm not eating what flies have been on. Also, there are flies INSIDE the bakery case. They were on top of all of the baked goods. Yuck!

Hey waiter what's this fly doing in my soup?

Waiter: the backstroke?

I know that was bad. I like Cody's, the entertainment, bartenders, waitstaff and patrons. Haven't been there in two weeks, so maybe the fly population has exploded. But I have been bothered by flies at AP too and most other places. Brownwood was swarming with love bugs yesterday. Yuck! Having dinner at home today. Maybe stop by Cody's later for a beer!

Hi Bonny: What came to my mind concerning your "what we call nature"reference was oil is also what we call nature but have an oil spill in the wrong spot and watch the environmentalist go nuts. Oil in the wrong spot or birds flys and other critters in the wrong spot and watch rubicon go nuts.:D

They will be gone by then, but will be back in October. Twice a year, what a treat.
