Does anyone have Tricare Prime in the villages? I am new here and need to find a good Primary Care Provider before we lose Prime in Oct. in the South Region?

Family Physicians Group has been great for us. There is a doctor in Sumter Landing, and also one over by the Hospital. They are great at doing referrals and we have been very happy with them. Need anything else feel free to send me a message.

We have Tricare Prime now and are using Family Physicians. Our experience at referrals from them hasn't been that great. However, since we are losing Prime in October, we are transitioning our medical care to the VA Clinic in TV.

Why would go to the VA when other plans would be available to you and you could use both , The VA or other plans jim

Tricare Prime will no longer be available in this area after 1 October. Tricare Standard is the only other plan available to us but it has higher copays. It does remain an option for emergencies. VA care is mostly free or low copay.

With the right hmo lor PPO and va you would have probably have no copays on drugs, you could use a Primary Care doctor, at no charge who would coordinate with the va plus have more options plus low cost Urgent care and emergency room coverage etc

Isn't there going to be another level of care called Tricare Extra which is a lower co-pay than what Standard is? If one is using Tricare Prime, you are under 65 yrs of age, correct? To be eligible for VA medical then I assume you are retired military with disabilities? What if you are under 65 on Tricare Prime and not eligible for VA care, what and where do you go for Medical then?

We have TriCare standard and have no co-pay. Annual deductible, but no co-pay, the deductible is less than the Prime annual premium. Good luck.

I am the surviving spouse of a retire Navy man, under 65, and do have prime. I am not eligible for VA. I have to find good Primary care and have all the test ran before Oct.
