Well, we finally closed on our house last week. We've picked out a rental for the month of June and we'll use that month to shop for a home to purchase. I can't believe it's actually happening!! :)

And we better end up buying something we like, because I AM NEVER MOVING AGAIN!!! :22yikes:

NOTE TO Whimsey: I read your post and I want to wish you the best. Looks like you're going through roughly the same process as me and my wife (and I'm sure many others). We're just a step or two ahead in the process. If it takes a while to sell, don't lose hope. We went a number of months with nothing...not even a near miss. Then all of a sudden...our first offer...a few weeks later we closed. Very exciting...except that's when the 'fun' really started!! :icon_wink:

By the way, our rental (assuming we get the contract signed and submitted before somebody else takes it...heheh) is in the Village of Calumet Grove. Any tidbits of information we should know before moving?

Wish us luck please!! :)

Hi Polar Bear
Wishing you much luck. And I know what you mean. We will never be moving again either and we didn't even get to the packing stage yet !!
It is fun though - just the excitement of knowing where we are headed. Hope you find the perfect place in paradise.

What are you looking for in a home? Location is as important as the home. Be glad to chat.

Thanks. And hey...we'll take all the advice we can get! Our budget is a bit on the modest side, but it still looks like we have a lot to choose from. We're pretty open as to style and all. That's why we want to rent for a month...so we can get a feel for the place, explore some models/open houses, see what areas we might like etc., etc.

My advice-from-a-stranger is not to overlook the historic district; I think it's pretty over there, especially Country Club Hills and Orange Blossom Hills. Homes with a golf course view are very reasonable. They are mostly mobiles, but don't try moving one. :-)

You're also close to Spanish Springs along with all the businesses and medical care along 27. No bond!
