How do TVers handle delivery of vitamins, etc. in an envelope to your Neighborhood Mail Center in the middle of a hot summer? Not good to let your vitamins overheat in your mailbox.

Strictly UPS delivery? If you're playing golf or ?? and the UPS driver delivers, I suppose it's "somewhat better" to have the pill package parked on your front door step for a while vs. a mailbox for possibly hours?!

Comments?

The Neighborhood Mail Centers are all air conditioned. That's one of the selling points of TV...no need to worry about medicine coming in the mail.

FYI, UPS trucks are not air conditioned and I have not experienced any problems with mail order meds being delivered to mail stop or front door. I do recall one med that apparently had to have special packaging and it was delivered to door in a sealed Styrofoam container with what appeared to be dry ice, similar to way Omaha Steaks ships meats. Has not been a problem for us in 15 years here in TV.

When we were at TV in March (shortly after our closing), I went to our mail box at the Sanibel Neighborhood Mail Center -- at least 3 times -- and I don't remember our outside mail box being in an air conditioned environment.

Did I miss something...or maybe I didn't understand your reply. Could you elaborate? Thanks.

What kind of medicine are you talking about? I mail-order my special calcium supplements and fiber pills and have never had a problem with the heat. Are you talking about something liquid, maybe?

Now my wine... different story.

I wasn't referring to medicine. My health food store said that an "oil-based" supplement doesn't do well in heat. That's why I asked about mail-order deliveries to TV mail boxes.

The buildings where the mailboxes are, are air conditioned. When you open your mailbox on a hot day take out your mail and then put your hand up to the opening. You'll be able to feel the cool air from inside the postal station.

Thanks, Pooh. Your amplified response is what I needed. What a great TOTV!

We get all our meds in the mail and have never had any problems. And yes, as stated above, all the mail centers are air conditioned mainly for the sake of the postal workers.

What is the general mail delivery time at the Neighborhood Mail Centers? Specifically at Sanibel (if someone reading this msg. knows)? Thanks.

Typically, the mail is sorted at the main post office and carriers arrive at the village postal stations mid- to late-morning. Usually it may take 1 or 2 hours and our mail is ready for pick-up by 1:30.

I'm going to speculate that your supplement is exposed to the "heat" several times during shipping with or without air conditioned mailboxes

On this visit to TV, I took the trolley tour on Sunday afternoon as I had not been on the trolley tour since my first visit to TV in the summer of 2010. The tour guide happened to mention as we were passing one of the Village mail stations (might have been Sabal Chase) that the mail centers are air conditioned so that residents don't have to worry about their meds getting too warm.
