We lived 45 minutes from there in Morganton, NC....Absolutely, go to Biltmore gardens...Asheville has a couple of beautiful golf courses, Biltmore Forest, Asheville CC (Private) but still worth the visit ...If you haven't booked a reservation, I highly recommend the Grove Park Inn (Their golf course is not private and also a Donald Ross design...Have breakfast at the Moose Cafe (they will bring a mound of biscuits to your table with the best apple butter in the world.. eatatthemoosecafe.com...Also see the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitors Center in Asheville..

we stayed at biltmore property you can spend as much time there in gardens the home, if you go into town go the MickeyDs not a fan of the food but it is very cool

Drive the Blueridge parkway. Stop at several scenic views and the art center and welcome center. All great. So many quaint restaurants downtown. Enjoy.

I own a vacation rental house in Asheville, and go there quite often. An absolute must is going to the Biltmore House and Gardens. It's a little pricey but well worth it. And they have additional tours that are really good too. The additional tours are a little less in price if you purchase those tickets the same time you purchase the main house tour.

If you like 50's type hamburgers and hot dogs, French Fryz restaurant on Hendersonville Rd. (Rt. 25) is really good. And not anything like Johnny rockets. I love their slaw dogs. If you order fries, be sure to state you want 'crispy' fries. If not, they tend to be a little underdone. The root beer shake is soooo good!

My favorite German restaurant is the Black Forest, also on Hendersonville Rd.

I could go on and on, but suggest you check with the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce. I'm a member. And if you ever go back to Asheville, I'd love for you to check out my vacation rental house. If your looking for a great place to stay in Asheville. The Grove Park Inn is excellent! with 5 star dining. It is also near the Biltmore House. I go by both, weekly traveling on the railroad.

We took a rather last minute trip to Biltmore in Asheville during the Christmas season. It was fantastic. I'm sure this time of the year is outstanding also with everything blooming. Very interesting and awesome place. A lot of times when you visit castles and such you don't get to see much of it but at Biltmore I thought we got to see quite a bit of this beautiful home. The basement is quite interesting also as it was the actual working part; i.e. kitchen, laundry, exercise etc. The solarium and library are amazing. We ate at the Deerpark Restaurant on the Biltmore grounds which you can drive to from the main house. It's kind of an upscale elegant barn building on steroids. They had a buffet going on and the food and service was excellent. When you venture into downtown Asheville you will find a nice little eclectic shopping district. Really a lovely trip...I think you will definitely enjoy it. Have fun

I would also suggest checking if the Biltmore is having any outdoor concerts. We happened to get tickets one night to see Patty Loveless, great music, under a full moon, on the old tennis-court grounds for the mansion. Absolutely one of the best evenings I've had. The view is absolutely gorgeous.
