Took a tour of the Ocala horse farms on Monday and wanted everyone to know how wonderful it was! The tour was by Farm Tours of Ocala owed by Karen Grimes. It starts at a horse museum in Ocala - sorry I don't remember the name of it. Karen then took us in her van to four horse farms - a race track farm, a rehab farm, a nursery farm and a stud farm. At the race track farm we got to see horses practicing on the track several of which stopped so we could take pictures. At the rehab farm we got to see a horse guided by a staff member go into a large pond where the horse was up to it's neck in the water walking round and round the pond. We also saw several horses all covered in suds getting their morning bath. :coolsmiley: At the nursery farm we had lots of mommy and baby horses come up to us at the fence. The mommys love carrots! The youngest baby was about four weeks old and absolutely adorable. At the stud farm we saw the 'lucky' guys in their individual outside areas enjoying the day after their morning 'visits.' Several of them were even lying down on the sand. Wonder why. :1rotfl: When driving from farm to farm Karen told us about alot of the family histories and took us through roads where all you could see were miles and miles of beautiful horse farms with gorgeous houses. It was absolutely breathtaking! Karen is great guide with a wonderful personality and a wealth of knowledge about the area. :clap2: The tour lasted amost three hours and the cost per person is $35 and well worth it. If interested check out her website at Farm Tours of Ocala (http://www.farmtoursofocala.com).
