use of a rubber inflatable for lake fishing

I'm moving down to TV in July and unsure if I should bring my rubber inflatable boat with oars. I've used it for fishing and messing around in mountain lakes, and I wonder if its safe for some of the lakes in and around TV. Specifically, am I being paranoid to think that an alligator might decide to see what it tastes like, and then I'm in the drink with him. Despite my nickname of Swampy, acquired on the concrete streets and sidewalks of West Philadelphia, PA, I am completely ignorant about ways to navigate in a southern inland body of water. If I should not realistically use my rubber blow-up toy to get in the water, then my fishing will be limited to the shore of a lake as I do not want the hassle of keeping a canoe or even kyack.

I fished from a kayak in New England but have not done it here. Heard that a struggling fish will attract gators. There is a video on U tube of this. You'll only have to watch it once. Remember, your butt is below the water line. Also, you do not fish from shore here either. Gators lay close to shore and jump at things walking by. Heard of a guy who asked a ranger at Griffin Park where he could fish from shore. Ranger replied, "sir, the gators here a bigger than you car."
