I can't really speak for other places you may be able to take lessons. I will be attending the new to golf class at the villages golf academy. I did however did go the good golf tee time class at colony cottage rec center for a brief info on the villages golf system as it were.

Check out "Golf Your Best" with LPGA Sandra Chester at Oxford Golf Center on 301. She is wonderful!

By all means find a good local teacher. That's by far the best way to learn the mechanics of the golf swing.
My wife has written a book GoodShot! Golf that describes a unique and structured way to learn how to play and enjoy golf as a beginner while you're still learning the basics. The book is targeted to women, but really applies to any beginner.
It's available from Amazon and Barnes and Noble as well as from our website (not sure if I'm allowed to provide a link). Please PM me if you're interested in more details
