I have a question/concern. I am closing on a house in Gilchrist tomorrow. I tried to google the address because I'm a little unsure of exact directions. When I put in the address it comes up as Wildwood rather than TV. I've heard that's not the best of areas. Do I have a problem or is google just wrong. All of my papers say I'm buying in TV but now I'm concerned.

That's just google's way of doing things...they pick up the closest town. In the Lake County portion of The Villages, they'll list the location as Lady Lake.
Don't worry, your home is definitely in TV. Hope all goes well tomorrow.

Not to worry, if you are buying in Gilchrist you are in TV. For some reason google maps is listing it as Wildwood.
Welcome to the neighborhood.

It takes a while for them to get the new addresses into the database. You're in The Villages, and in a year or so all the map services and GPS systems will say so. Welcome go The Villages!

Yes, yes, yes! Gilchrist is one of the newer Villages in The Villages. Don't lose a minute's sleep over this. Instead, be excited. Be very excited. For tomorrow, you will be a Villager. Congratulations and welcome!

Parts of Sumter County are Lady Lake as well.

A present neighbor in Orlando. I took her comment with a grain of salt but made me curious.

Absolutely and I love my new house. The area looked great to me but I guess I'm just a bit nervous.

I know how you feel....closed middle of May....take deep breaths...
when I was looking at resales and they were only a year or two old, the map view would be an empty lot....it does take time for things to become current...

On a related note, your address can have two cities that are recognized by the Postal Service. i.e. our zip is 32162 and searching the USPS zip search it give The Villages as the preferred city and indicates that using Lady Lake is also acceptable if someone uses that in mailing you. Go to the following link and enter your zip to see this:

Wildwood is an "up and coming" area----we shop and eat there. I don't know where people get the idea that something is wrong with Wildwood. It was pretty much a Railroad town years ago----TV being closeby has brought new life to Wildwood.

I think the postal service doesn't even look at the city on mail. I believe they just go by the zip code. Send yourself a letter with the proper zip code, but put Hollywood, CA. Wouldn't be surprised if you receive it.

Agree. The Villages will do for Wildwood what the Villages did for the larger, once rural and relatively poor Sumter County (of which Wildwood is a part).
With apologies to Russ, today there is a P in Sumter County. It stands for prosperity. Look for it to blossom in Wildwood as well as The Villages expands within it's welcoming city limits.

However, I haven't gone and sat right down and written myself a letter (♫) in over 50 years and I'm not about to start now. What you said also reminds me of an old definition for pajamas. 'Pajamas are something you keep on the side of your bed at night in case of fire!' :D

My closing today was a piece of cake. I don't think it took 15 minutes. I am now a Villager and happy as a clam. I knew I liked my house when I bought it but today I fell in love with it. I figured out where furniture will be placed and even did a small grocery shop for a few basics. I truly, truly, truly am about as happy as one person can be. Now I cannot wait to actually move in. Wednesday out of Orlando, Thursday into The Villages and a new life. Thank you all so very much for your support last night and today and the warm "welcomes".

Actually that could happen. There is beer in the fridge as well as a bottle of champagne. There is also a bottle of less than expensive chianti on the counter. Nothing to sit on yet but a party could be done. LOL.
