I have a friend whose wife is completely disabled. He is looking for a van that is equipped (or can be equipped) for trasporting her. Does anyone here know of someone who has one of these vans who would be willing to share information on where to get one and if there is any way to get financial assitance in purchasing one? They are in the Villages for six months (own a home here) and the other six months in New York. He will actually be taking her back to New York (because she wants to go) when he can get the proper transportation to accomplish this. While I am at it, is there an organziation that will assist in driving the van to New York. (He is 80 years old and I am a bit concerned about him driving it all the way there - but he is determined to please her and is her 24/7 caregiver). Thanks for any info you may provide. I will pass it along to him. You can send me an email at: ilvgolf2004@yahoo.com. Thanks again.

I have a Chevy Uplander that is fully converted with ramp and ability to kneel when the ramp is deployed and more. I can’t answer most of your questions, but will comment and give what information I can.
A new vehicle would probably be in the area of $60,000 and most decent used vehicles I’ve seen have been around $30,000 at dealerships. You didn’t mention where in NY your referring to, but we did buy our vehicle new in Albany NY from Mobility Works 1-800-841-3150. The closest facility they have to here in TV is in Jacksonville. There are a few other dealers that are fairly close to us in Clairmont and Ocala. Here’s the links to their websites where you can access further information:
Mobility Works (http://www.mobilityworks.com/)
Mobility Freedom (http://www.mobilityfreedom.com/)
AVM Mobility (http://www.avmmobility.com/)
Here is a place in Sommerville (not a vehicle dealer) where I got my mobility scooter. It may not have anything you're interested in, but thought I'd provide the link so you can take a look anyway:
