Please tell me what you love to do when you are in Mt. Dora. I've heard it is a great place but don't know anything about the restaurants or shopping there.

Take a boat ride on the lake, participate in a Segway tour of the city and eat at of of the many very good local restaurants or bakeries.

It's better if they are having an art fair

I am not a fan. I am not crazy about antiques. I am glad Sweetie is.

Went to the Blues and Wine Fest a couple of weeks ago. Great time. Local artists, wine tasting, and entertainers singing the blues. Had a great dinner out on the deck of Pisces Rising overlooking the lake and listening to a great band. Check out web site for upcoming events.

Love Mt. Dora, cute little town, but better in the early fall. If you are into plants get there for their huge Plant Sale on the lake. Goblin Market for lunch or dinner, and we like to eat in their tiny courtyard.

We love the Bavarian House restaurant. It's located on a side street about one block in on the commercial district on the right side across from the Segway store. Great German food.

If you go to Mt. Dora during one of the art fairs or craft fairs, be prepared to park a mile or more from the center of town. Just saying.

Check out Copacabanas, a cuban restaurant next to Goblins. Great ethnic food. Having lived in Miami for many years, I highly recommend it.

I second the Copacabanas recommendation ..... and I went to The U and worked in Tampa for many years, both have plenty of good Latino restaurants.
The Mt Dora Arts Festival is world class.

MD has changed a lot since 2004 when we first visited. A lot of the shops did not make it in the economy.
The town decorates nicely at Christmas and you can watch an outdoor movie in the park on some nights.
We like Pisces Rising where you can dine out and see the lake.

 We have not been to the Annual Arts Festival in about four years but there was always a shuttle from the parking lots---like you say several blocks from the downtown area. That area of Lake County really did take a hit from the economic downturn----including Mt. Dora. If you never had a trip on the Dora Canal, it's a short trip, but worthwhile.

On your ride from TV to Mt. Dora, consider dropping down to Tavares and catching Main St. east out of town. Stay to the right - it becomes Lakeshore Dr. and follows the north bank of Lake Dora for several miles. When you then come to the stop sign at Old 441, make a right and it'll take you on into Mt. Dora.
Nice 5-6 mile ride along the lake!
Bill :)
