We lost our beloved Callie today. We were so lucky to have had the privilege of knowing her for 13 short years. She brightened the day of everyone she met and leaves a hole in our hearts we will never be able to fill. Her end was peaceful and painless and her suffering is over.

Sorry for the loss of your perfect pooch. Have lost many in my lifetime, but the joy they bring while they are here is worth the pain we suffer when they leave. Hugs to you for giving her the life you did.

Lost ours 7 years ago when he was almost 18 years old. Though the pain of losing him actually got worse over the following months, and we waited 4 years before finding another dog we hoped would be even half as perfect for us, I hope you'll believe me that we struck gold again!

Our current little girl is just a doll. She is loving, gentle, playful, and smart. Amazingly, she looks and acts so similar to our prior pet, I sometimes forgetfully call her by that name. We found her at a shelter and have had her almost 3 years. We love her just as much. So please don't think you're doomed to a life without that special friendship. Give it some time. There are so many wonderful deserving pets out there. My heart goes out to you.

I am so sorry for the loss of your family member. My pet's are part of our family and I do not want to think of the day they will leave us. You will always have her in your heart... God Bless you.

So sorry for your loss. I'm sure your life was better for sharing the time that you were allowed to have with her. Hang in there.

Before humans die, they write their last Will & Testament, and give their home and all they have to those they leave behind. If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I'd ask....

To a poor and lonely stray I'd give:

My happy home.
My bowl, cozy bed, soft pillows and all my toys.
The lap which I loved so much.
The hand that stroked my fur and the sweet voice which spoke my name.
I'd will to the sad scared shelter dog the place I had in my human's heart, of which there seemed no bounds.

So when I die please do not say, "I will never have a pet again, for the loss and pain is more than I can stand." Instead go find an unloved dog; one whose life has held no joy or hope and give MY place to him.

This is the only thing I can give...the love I left behind.

I have lost several dogs over my lifetime and they all had their own characteristics and I loved them all. The only way I found to get over the hurt and loneliness was to go get a replacement. Amazing how great this works and they again melt your heart. God knew what he was doing when he made dogs.

I'm so sorry. I love the picture of Callie smiling in the snow; such a beauty.
Having her company for so many years was a blessing and I'm happy that her passing was painless. Cherish the memories.

I am so sorry for your loss. We just learned today that our Golden Retriever, Sophie, has cancer and is not expected to last more than a few weeks. We brought her home and gave her lots of love and extra treats tonight.

So sorry for your loss. She was one very lucky dog to have had the honor and privilege to adopt your family and love you as her own.

It has been over two years since we lost our pug Chester and a day doesn't go by that we talk and share a funny story or experience we had with him. We were so happy that he got to enjoy the Villages lifestyle for the last 4 months of his life. He thought that the golf cart was the greatest invention that us crazy humans ever invented.

She will live on forever in your heart every time you think of her.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I totally understand the grief you are feeling. I have had about 7 or more dogs in the past 30 years and when each and everyone past, I was devastated and still have such wonderful memories of all of them. They will be in my heart forever. My condolences to you and your family.

So sorry for your loss. We have been through the same and still talk about our "Maxie Dog"---always with love and laughs at his antics through the years that we were privileged to have him in our family. Hope it will get easier for you as time goes by.

I lost a once in a lifetime Benji type in 1992, mourned 10 years, and had a final cry.
Retired in 2009 and volunteered at human society where on day 1 I met Emma, a boxer and now my twice in a lifetime best friend.

....our pets don't ask for much but give back so so much.

So glad for your 13 years with Callie.

We just had to put down our 17.5 yo Sheltie this spring. It was time, she was deaf and could barely see and we were carrying her outside to do her business for 3 mos. We do miss her.

We have decided to adopt a puppy cause we miss our Tootsie so much. Not to replace but to help fill that void and because the Shih Tsu is lonely too.

Take care and be comforted in your good memories!!!

I just ran across our golden's ashes today. He died five years ago, and since we are moving from MI to TV, I will scatter him in the water at the dog beach. It will still make me sad, as it will remind me of his beautiful, blocky face and happy smile. We have another golden, 5,who is quite lovable but different in personality. He brought us some measure of peace to our grief, and I hope another one will eventually do the same for you. Best wishes to you.

Our sincere condolances on your loss, its like losing a child, you get so attached to them and their love and joy at seeing you is completely without condition and unrestrained.

We are dreading losing our little Millie, who is also 13 years and although she is a well traveled dog and is on her 4th UK Pet Passport, we are in dread every time we fly her over to the US, luckly up to now she just appears to take it in her stride.

I feel your pain. She was certainly a beautiful girl. My oldest pooch is now 16 1/2 and although I adopted him 5 short years ago, he's one of those special ones. Please consider adopting another dog once you've had time to grieve as there are many animals that need the love you have to give. My sincerest sympathy to you.

You are most definitely in our thoughts & prayers. Just try and get thru today and let the tomorrows handle themselves. May those puppy kiss memories warm your broken heart.

Someone once sent a card that read - Dogs are furry little vitamins for your soul. I'm truly sorry for your loss, and that the day comes soon enough that the heaviness felt in your heart will lighten a bit.
