We bought last April in Buttonwood. At that time the AT&T service was not very good. They must have put-up more towers because now we have no problem.

The new towers have helped alot for many people around the Villages, but it didn't help at our house in Hadley. We ended up getting a Microcell booster and have gone from 1 bar to 4 bars in our house and get very few dropped calls. Our AT&T phone works pretty well when we are driving around the Villages except for a dead area near Racetrack Road and 466A. Overall we are satisfied now that we have the booster.

The new tower(s) helped improve our signal strength immensely in Duval.
In OH, we used to have Verizon for years and were always happy with them. Good company, good service. When we moved, the service at our new home (only about 3-4 miles from our former home) was nearly non-existent - we HAD to change service providers. AT&T was the only provider where we'd have at least an acceptable signal at the new house. We have not had any problems/issues with AT&T, in OH or in TV......other than the horribly weak signal in TV before the new tower(s) came on-line.

We live in Sanibel and our two ATT phones work great. They invested in two new towers to cover all the growth.

The AT&T service has improved slightly over the last few months. But this new charge on our bill for "administrative fee" of $0.61 per month per phone is ridiculous.

we switched to Net10 a no contract phone on the tracfone network using ATTs towers and our 2 phones combined are under $100;month with unlimited everything! we are in Hadley and previously had mlserable verizon coverage and poor ATT, however, since the new towers we can take advantage of the lower cost service. :a040:

Believe it or not my Verizon service has improved immensely in the last few months. I am in Hadley and could only use the phone if I stood in certain spots in the house. All of a sudden the phone started working and I can only attribute it to the new ATT towers.

I have AT&T cell phone service and at my home in Hemmingway the bars are about 1 to 2-1/2 fluctuating. I'm interested in knowing more about the mini tower and if there is a cost for it

AT&T putting up a new tower would have NO effect on your Verizon reception, unless Verizon installed their own antennas on AT&T's tower. And I really doubt that AT&T actually developed & built a new tower site in the area. They probably just co-located on an existing tower. New sites are increasingly difficult to get through zoning approvals these days, it can take YEARS. Everyone wants great cell reception, but no one wants the towers in their "backyard". Also, very few tower sites are actually owned or leased by the phone companies themselves these days. Companies like American Tower & Crown-Castle own the leases from the actual property owners & then lease space on the towers & ground to the phone companies like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile etc. The actual phone companies really prefer not to be in the real estate business.

They could pay me to put a tower in my backyard, but I don't think TV would allow it.

Sorry to hear you are unhappy with Verizon. We are in Amelia and use VerizonWireless for house and internet. Have not experienced any problems, even with the storms of the past several days.

We have been customers of Consumer Cellular for 3 years. They use the AT&T network and with the addition of more towers by AT&T in TV we have had excellent service plus we spend less and have no contract. Their phone selections are not the latest and greatest, but they have added several smart phones to their line up. You can check them out at www.consumercellular.com. Their US based reps are great and the service is better than some of the big players. They are senior friendly.

Boy, isn't that the truth (the highlighted sentence)!!! From the comments, it sounds like AT&T service has improved recently, but when I had a contract with them, it was THE worst! The day the contract ended, I turned off the service with much delight!!!
I now use Tracfone based on local recommendations. My service is excellent, and I've never had a "dropped call." Since I have a land line, I use the cell phone only to make and receive calls when away from home. As a result, the service is incredibly reasonable; I figured out, using a phone that gives TRIPLE minutes (that is, buy one and get three), I spend less than $10/month. What an improvement over AT&T not just in service quality but in cost, even with no "free nights and weekends"!

I checked them all out, and found PureTalkUSA to be the best deal. Check their website out. We are glad we did 5 years ago.
When we were standing at our new homesite in Pinellas, my husbands Verizon worked much better than my AT&T. So because we will be moving soon, I have changed to "Straight Talk" which uses Verizon and hope, when we get there, all will be well. Verizon works better in our northern home too, so it may be a win-win. The price for Straight Talk was favorable as well.

We also live in Sanibel and our ATT service is NOT good. We only get 2 bars most days and have to have our friends call us on the house phone. Service generally isn't any better outside of the house or down the street in a car. Good thing we don't rely on our cell phones much. When we buy new phones, I think we will jump ship and go with Verizon.
