Kitchen Cabinet Refacing

Does anyone have recommendations for companies that reface kitchen and bathroom cabinets? Would also like to know who to stay away from. I have been given a ball park figure and of course it was more than I had in mind and much, much more than my Irish husband had in his mind.

BEFORE - Natural Maple Cabinets Woodlawn (Durham) CYV New August 2011

AFTER - White Thermafoil Refacing completed March 2013 The installer removes all the doors and drawl fronts and crown molding and then applies new white formica to the exterior of all the base cabinets. Using a router, all the excess formica is trimmed, new crown molding is installed and all edges and corners are smoothed and caulked. New hinges are applied to the new doors and the doors are mounted. New Drawl fronts are mounted to each drawl and then holes are drilled and new hand pulls are installed.

I wold suggest when looking for recommendations to click on the search button at the top of this website and type in whatever you are looking for. I'm sure there are many other comments about Remington and other refacers. Before I moved to TV, I had 20 pages of notes from two years of researching contractors by using this website's search button. I had first made note of Remington in 2011 and finally used them in 2013.

I am looking to do the same project, changing the cabinets to a dark cherry finish in a Charlotte model, which is what we are looking at. Would you give me an idea of what a job like yours runs, thank you.

Thanks to both of you. Doc's and Remington have both been recommended since I posted this thread. Also, I dialed a wrong number today and got a gentleman at Ultimate Granite on Rolling Acers Road (found out they supply all of the granite for the Villages new homes). Since I had him on the phone I started asking questions about granite, since we need that also, and he was so helpful about that and
the cabinets. Know what to do now.

To answer a couple of questions. The Remington refacing with all labor and materials included was $4800.

The Ultimate Granite that I've been to is at 705 S. Main St. Wildwood, Florida, that's the west side of Hwy 301 south of 466A. They are a granite wholesaler to all the local fabricators. It's good to go yo their yard on Hwy 301 and pick out what you want because they have the largest selection but you'll need a fabricator for installtion. The best price I found was from ARS in Fruitland Park. The building faces 27/441 with it's rear on 25A, it's just north of 466A.

The kitchen from those photos is 68 SF counter space. Granite comes in 3 levels in this area, at ARS level 1 is $42 a sf, level 2 is $52 and level 3 is $62. Roughly for our kitchen and going with a basic non-exotic granite, you would have 68 x $42, plus $200 for the sink cutout and $350 for an undermount stainless 18 gauge sink. Also a basic edge is no extra charge but a fancy edge can add hundreds to the cost. So that would be about $3500 and for the best grade about $4800

Others I have found charged more for the sink, or a demolition charge for the old countertop, or more for the SF price. Do a search on this website and you'll probably find ARS and Duncan Stone as the two most recommended.
