Where to now go for the best fried fish?
I really loved Orange Blossum and am now in a quandary on where to go on Fridays for fried fish.

You can't go wrong with O'Shea's Irish Pub for their fish'n chips, or if you find yourself in Ocala, the Ocala Ale House for their fish'n chips. Closer to home, you've got the Lighthouse--where everything is fried!

I think Hacienda Hills CC has nice lightly battered fried fish on Friday nites. All you can eat fish, fries and either slaw or salad is $10.99. It is very good. We go often.

Try the "stowaway shrimp" appetizer. Very large and numerous steamed shrimp, peel and eat.

These are at Lighthouse. Not fried.

the pub at fiesta bowl has buy one get one free fish. blackened or fried with choice of two of six sides. fried is not greasy. tierra del sol has fish and chips which are good, or all you can eat which is good also.

For starters, OBH was never the best place for a fish fry. Actually, not even close. Some of the other responses, ie., Sam's St John's may be the worst Seafood joint I've ever been to. Hacienda Hills to my experience may use prefabricated fish.

In TV, Lighthouse is an order of magnitude above the rest. You'd only know this if you have ever had a FF in the Northeast.

Been to Lighthouse and was not impressed. Red Lobster is better.

WOW this thread is going taking the same path as 'best pizza' (not that I want to start something).

I have bowled on Friday's at SS lanes and always enjoyed their Friday FF. Recently (6 months ago) I tried fish n chips at Bonifay and have been back twice form more!

Looking forward to trying O'shea's tho'

I highly recommend Hacienda Hills CC on Friday nights. The fish is fresh and hand battered. It is NOT something just frozen and dumped in the fryer. The breading is lightly done and the taste of the fish is great. All you can eat for $10.99.

Stumpknockers is a drive of about 45 minutes and is like a bit of Old Florida. Good fried catfish! The catfish platter is $9.99 (I think) and the all you can eat is $2 more. The catfish platter had a huge amount on it.

I think O'Shea's Sports Pub on Hwy 44 has the best fish & chips. Lightly breaded and the best fries around.

Let me suggest that before you respond posters identify what part of the country they were raised. As to this thread if your from New England then you are never going to be satisified. and if your from Maine there is not a lobster within 1700 square miles that will please you from the prospective of quality or price.

My suggestion...before you go for fish lower your expectations

I like O'shuck on 301 at 44 in Wildwood. Friday big big piece, fries, slaw for $7.95. Also have good oysters. Special mug beer for $1.00.

Tierra De Sol's Friday night special is fantastic and you can choose 'all you can eat' fish fried or broiled; slaw; fries; soup or salad; and dessert - creme puff (to die for!!!) $10.50 and suggest reservations.

By far best fish and chips for us is Gator Joes! Many like the heavy batter on fried fish but I prefer a very light batter!

Another vote for Bonifay Country Club for Fish and Chips, ask for the malt vinegar and enjoy.

Glad I read this, I am from the Chesapeake Bay area in Virginia. Guess I will have to load my cooler up with fresh fish and bring it on the drive down when I come for good in July. I am very spoiled when it comes to seafood!!!

I went to TDS on Friday night. Had the fish and chips which was the same fish in the AUCE special. I ordered the smaller version (the fish and chips one) and it was more than enough. Very good. A light batter and the haddock was fresh. I saw the AUCE platters they were bringing out. Huge, you could spend all night on that dish.

I'll head back there again.
