My husband and I are looking to take a trip to Italy next spring. We would like to take a tour. Have looked at Globus, Perillo and Trafalgar. Has anyone used any of these companies? And, if so, which did you prefer.

My sister and her husband used Tauck and they both said it was wonderful.

VBT, Vermont Bicycling Tours

They also have walking tours.

Although we haven't been (yet), while searching TripAdvisor.com I came across a highly rated tour company, Queenslander Tours. They are strictly small groups, 16 or fewer. Members of the same tour can choose either to stay in deluxe hotels or budget hotels. Worth a comparison.

My wife and I took an Italy tour with Abercrombie and Kent - small groups (about 16)- they were great.

When we went to Italy, we did a cruise. It was great because I felt we got to see so many more cities. Got to see Venice, Rome, Naples, Pisa, Florence, Sicily, a day in Monaco, a day in Cannes, France, a day in Croatia, and a few more Italian cities. Just went to sleep and arrived in a new city each day. Avoided all the long bus rides.

if you want economy, Gate 1 is well spoken of...i am using them for an italy trip this winter. have used Go Ahead Tours but they are a bit more expensive. i took Globus years ago but the hotels were not conveniently located...that is an important thing to check out on internet before you book...buon viaggio!

Hi, I have many friends that have been on the Globus tour that toured Italy. They did this a couple of years ago.

Nothing but rave reviews. Perillo is not considered at the same level as Globus, they are considered one notch below them, and Tauk and Abercrombie are at a higher level than Globus.

One suggestion, decide where and what you want to do in Italy. This will narrow down your choices of tours. Then there is the obvious one - what the cost is.

When you check out the cost of a tour please check out how many meals you will get, tours that are provided and what the optional tours are.

Hope this helps you.

Just have a wonderful time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We used Globus in 2003 for a two week bus tour of Italy. We had an excellent tour guide (Aldo) and bus driver. Their cost was reasonable and the hotels were nice and centrally located. It was a basic tour with many excursions, that added into the cost. I would definitely use them again although the last time we went (2009) to Italy we chose Princess Cruises and enjoyed that experience even more.
