Can hardly believe this is true. The last thing I read in the newspaper was that Bill Bellichick cannot stand Tim Tebow. How can this happen?

Sorry, not a Tebow fan, so I can understand Bellichick not being thrilled with having him on the team -- I've read that he's caused some dissension. Plus, he just hasn't lived up to his perceived potential. And I can't think of a better team for Tim -- will just give me another reason to not root for the Pats.

(I guess I better start ducking but I'm a Dolfan and have been since '68. Second-fave team is the 49ers. So, no way can I ever like the Pats; at least not in this lifetime.)

They are looking for a quality back up for Brady and still be able to stay under the salary cap. Probably Tebow is the best available for the money. If anyone can get him back on track it will be Bill and Tom.

From a 20+ year Pats season ticket holder:

Bill LOVES Tebow and always has. They almost considered drafting him if he hadn't gone so high.

Ryan Mallett is the next QB if Brady goes down - not Tebow. Bill really likes Mallett. Mallett has a great arm and a couple of years under his belt working with Brady.

Tebow is a no dissention, no risk play. If, IF, he earns a spot he will play whatever and wherever Bill tells him to with no talk back. Yes Sir is all he will say.

Moss worked out great until he wore out his welcome and Tebow has a chance. Probably not as a starting QB but a chance to make an impact. Quality guy.

At least that is my opinion and I can go to work later this week and tell everyone I "told you so". I knew Bill loved him.

I've been a Patriots fan for fifty years. I used to live about 7 miles from Gillette Stadium. I was shocked to hear this. I'm wondering what Belichick has in mind. It's going to be interesting.
I don't understand it from Tebow's perspective. He was unhappy with the Jets because he wasn't getting enough playing time. Unless Belichick intends to use him as a receiver or DB or unless Brady goes down, he won't get a single snap with the Patriots. Even if he beats out Mallet for the number two spot, Brady does not like to come out of games and Belichick lets him have his way. Even with a 57-6 lead, Brady has stayed in.
Bill Belichick may be the greatest football coach whoever lived and I have learned to trust his judgement even though at times he seems to have gone insane. There is some kind of method behind this seeming madness.

Probably closer than most people think. Patriots 55-52-1. NE has the edge but nothing feels better than to rub NE fans noses in it now and then.

That's including ancient history. What's the record in the Belichick/Brady era?

And so that I fully understand this, you are rubbing our noses in a losing record?

I don't know about that. Tim Tebow has excelled at every level that he's played. He was a legend in high school. He went on to become one of the greatest college players in history. He was then drafted into the NFL where he took his team into the playoffs and threw several game winning passes, one to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in a playoff game.
He also is a very versatile player and with a mind like Belichick who knows what we are likely to see.
I'd say his potential is huge.

:agree:

The only thing I would add besides Uggh, is I highly doubt they will use him to run the option. It is much more likely he will be a halfback or flanker type of player in addition to some role on special teams. Like everyone else, the more versatile he is the better chance he has to make the team. Him making the team is no guarantee.

Pats fan since they built a stadium in my home town of Foxborough. Before that it was NY Giants as my Dad from Jersey and did anyone really watch the AFL? Owned Pats season tickets for many losing years. I remember a local car dealer would buy out the last thousand or so seats for a game just so it would be on local television. Times have certainly changed.

I have never quite figured out why so many dislike Mr. Tebo. Every time I have seen him in an interview, he strikes me a solid young man, even a role model in a sports world where they can be hard to find. I think the media has a lot to do with our impression of folks.

I have no idea if he will make team or play or what he will do, but IMO it is all upside for Tebo. For one thing he will not be part of a QB media controversy as long as Brady is healthy.

For another he can sit and watch film with Mr. Brady and ask questions and observe and soak it all in. Not many players have that access....

It will be fun to see unfold no matter how it turns out....

The question was "have you seen the Pats record against the Jets". Sounds like a pretty simple question to me, but then I'm not a Pats fan. Next statement you're have difficulty with is "NE has the edge but nothing feels better than to rub NE fans noses in it now and then". Granted, NE has the edge and have outplayed the Jets in recent years but this statement has nothing to do with the record. It has everything to do with the occasions where the Jets have kicked the Pats butts. Actually I'm happy whenever the Pats get a whupping. Go Giants!!

I agree. Tebow has been a winner at every stage in his career. He's a smart guy and certainly knows that his chances of playing QB in NE are slim to none. Used correctly, Tebow can be a tremendous asset to an offense and the Pats coaching staff is definitely capable of making good use of this smart, strong, fast, multi-talented football player. Too bad the Jets are coached by a buffoon and a cast of clowns. They had a versatile weapon on their roster and couldn't figure out how to use him. I suspect that they're about to get an education.

Guess you either love him or hate him. I'm a Univ of FL gradx2 and love my gators.
Tebow won it all for us. My sense of him is that he is one of those amazingly energetic charismatic sincere leaders who goes all out in everything he does, doubtless stepping on toes of those who don't want to be his groupie or resent how high he sets the bar.
Not to mention that from a woman's view he's as good looking as my son, the Ben Affleck clone.
Bring it on! I can't wait...

You watch........Tebow will be either playing a receiver position or playing running back replacing Danny Woodhead.......Josh Daniels drafted him and with Belicheck will devise some offense plays to best utilize Tebow's skill set.

I'll make for an interesting 2013 Season watching to see how this develops.

Where in The Villages can you watch Pats games?

I'm thinking replacement for Welker.

You're going to replace Welker, one of the most prolific NFL receivers in terms of catches of all time, with a guy who has NEVER been a wide receiver in his life? Don't think so.

Will he come out of the backfield to receive a pass every now and then? Yes (maybe). But not 110 catches per year!

Let's have him make the roster first before we put him in the HOF.

Danny Amendola will the be the replacement for Welker and he may be every bit just as good. It always seems to me that the team and coach have made many of the players what they are in New England. We've had a lot of mediocre players come in over the years and play like super stars while they were in the system.
I take nothing away from Welker, but I think that if he not played for Belichick and with Brady, he'd be just another reciever.

NY fans mostly liked Tebow. They realized early on that Ryan had no intention of playing him. Mark Sanchez caught hell from the NY fans and that will likely continue this year, at least from this Jets fan.

Like Tebow's highlighting of JOHN 3:16 even though it does seem rather inappropriate for a football quarterback-- especially in a college setting--to espouse one religion over that of others. To me, JOHN 3:16 also seems to mean that anything will be forgiven at judgment day as long as you believe in Jesus Christ. Great thought for those Christians in John's day who probably had committed all kinds of sins but with faith.....

We will have to see if and when Tebow plays, if the New England Patriots allow Tebow to wear his religion on his sleeves, face, etc. I do not remember the Broncos allowing Tebow to wear his 3:16 face paint but that did not stop him for going for 3:16 references. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/tim-tebow-denver-broncos-defeat-pittsburgh-steelers-316-significant-in-many-ways-in-overtime-playoff-win-010812

Sorry Doc, you seem to have a lot of trouble understanding the original statement by Russ, "Have you seen the Pats record against the Jets? Don't think we need the playbook". Not surprising for a Pats fan. I'll type it for you a little slower, maybe that'll help. Haaave yooou seeeen thhe Paaats reeccoorrd aggaaiinnst thhe Jeeets? Dooon't thhiiinnk weeee neeeed thhe plaayybboook. There, does that help. It was followed by a pretty simple with a simple, factual answer. You were unhappy with the record and decided you wanted to cherry pick the years. If you're actually a longtime Patriots fan you undoubtedly recall the many years when they sucked. You can't eliminate that part of their history. As a Yankees fan I recall some years in the 60s when they were pretty bad and while I don't like to think of that it's part of the Yankees history. No doubt if we were discussing baseball you'd want to concentrate the discussion on 2004 and 2007 and forget about all those years between 1918 and 2004, but that's a discussion or another day.

How the heck does a playbook from last year help? That might be the biggest myth in the NFL. I'll bet a hundred players a year move from one team to another. It's a non-issue. You're right Russ. Sometimes folks from other areas don't understand how New England and New York fans like to needle each other. No offense intended by any of this stuff, none taken. When we're done busting each other I'll buy the next round. I'm pretty sure NE could tell the Jets the exact play they were running and the current Jets couldn't stop them. Likewise, I don't think Belichick needs anyone's playbook, most of all the Jets. But still, it's fun to yap at one another.
