Windows 8 open document attachment

I have a document in word and have attached it to an email, but can't open the attachment. IOt take me to a new screen that wants to know if I wat to open or save the attachment. When open is selected it looks like it starts to open then it is gone. Please help!

Try saving it to your desktop to open later with word.

I have Windoze 8 also and it is horrible.
