It was just announced that Walt Disney World will be adding Star Wars land to open in 2018. It looks like with the increased fee will go to funding the new park.

As mentioned in previous posts, Disney needs a Park to attract teenagers. It has been my experience that when the kids reached the "teens" they were looking for the thrill rides as opposed to Mickey and Goofy and Cinderella. I don't know if a Star Wars Park will be the answer but could be??

keep in mind that this is not a new park like epcot or animal kingdom...rather, it will be a new entertainment area within the hollywood studios park...like a fantasyland or frontierland in the magic kingdom.

star wars generates a bucketful of cash for disney when they hold the star wars weekend there!

do ya think that teens really remember star wars?

They are going to do whatever they have to do to compete with Universal Studios, Harry Potter stuff etc., which I hear is far more attractive right now.

And they can have it. Thank God none of us has to spend our money there. For a "vacation" I'll take a snow-white, natural Gulf beach and a pina colada under umbrella ANY day.

Somebody once asked here how FL can do without state income tax. The answer was "tourism" taxes etc. If hoardes of mindless, Hollywood-educated people want to empty their wallets or run up their credit cards to the limit at these plastic tourist traps, let them.

I just don't want to have to pay for their "underwater" mortgage of $600,000 when they can't make the payments and walk away from it. We don't get much of a choice on that kind of stuff.

I love it. Studio and Animal Kingdom are two of the lowest attendance parks. With Star Wars and carsland (which boosted attendance by 28 percent in California) it will draw more attendance plus relieve attendance at the other parks. Avatar at Animal Kingdom will also be a huge draw.
