Greetings, all,
Looking forward to our move to TV in July - only 3 weeks away!!! Thought I'd try to connect with past Pennsylvania residents via TOTV. Didn't have any luck posting the word "Hershey". So I decided I'd try again to find Villagers who have a connection with the Hershey area of Pennsylvania. It might be a way to start some new "friendships", since we are leaving our family and friends behind in PA!! Thanks for your time!!

When you get down, you might want to check out the Pennsyvania clubs. There is a Philadelphia club and three Pennsylvania clubs listed, Enjoy !

Hi Bill and Judy,
What Village are you moving to? My husband and I are moving to Charlotte at the end of August. We too are leaving all friends and family (no kids) behind in Chicago. I visited Hershey when I was a kid and loved that town. Let's meet up in September and compare notes!

My father attended W&J College in 1918-1922 and his room mate was a student named Bill Schiller. As I recall Bill's mother took in wash in order for Bill to get through college and since my father had little money they pooled what they got to ensure both would make it through school. Bill did graduate and ended up as VP and Controller of the Hersey Co. and we would visit them in later years. He always gave me a huge box of "sample" Goodbars to take back to College as we would stop there on the way to take me to school. Just some memory.

Thanks for your response!! Speaking of Hershey, I was a chocolate factory tour guide in the 70's. Did you take a tour of the chocolate factory when you were in Hershey?? I also worked at Hersheypark!!! It's a great place and I will miss it!!
We are moving to Briar Meadow. Not sure of the location of all of the Villages as yet. Hope to learn more about TV when we get there!! Good luck in your move!!! Looking forward to meeting you in September!!!

I am from Philly! Been to Hershey Park (HAPPY) many, many times. Always vacationed up in the Poconos! Had a cabin in Benton, PA (originally was going to retire there)! Recently visited several friends in York/Manchester, PA. You will absolutely love it here (good times to be had)!

Hi! I am from Gettysburg(next door to Hershey). We moved here in 2008 to the Village of Amelia. We love it here and never regretted the move. We visited Hershey many times. I love the rose garden. I also saw the hockey team play in the arena. My dear friend had knee surgery at Hershey Medical Center. I saw Conway Twitty in Hershey and he said "Hello Darlin" to me. Just a few of my Hershey memories along with the chocolate factory (of course)!

We used Gastley Moving company for our move. They are a local company in Gettysburg and they did a fantastic and timely move for us and at a reasonable price.

You will love Briar Meadow...close to shopping in Mulberry Grove. I moved to Villages 8 years ago from Harrisburg. My son was born @ Hershey Med center (37 yrs. ago!) Maybe when you are settled in we could arrange a "central Pa. group". You are coming @ a great time; not too much traffic & snowbirds. Get a Villages map & explore....Pat

I went to Hershey with my 4th grade class trip...North Ward Elementary School in Tamaqua. Romped around the mountains of Sullivan County. Sounds like we should have a pot luck when you get settled! Keep us posted!

I was born and raised in Harrisburg and we moved to The Villages in July '07 from Camp Hill, PA. Went to Hershey Park every year and frequently ate at restaurants in the Hershey/Hummelestown area. Miss the beauty of the area, Mt Gretna, Lancaster, Gettysburg, loved walking along the Susquehanna River in downtown Harrisburg and the colorful autumns, but we are very happy here.

Moved to Village of Charlotte from New Oxford (10 miles east of Gettysburg) last October. Did not miss the winter weather at all. Good doctors in Hershey when we needed specialization, and of course, good chocolate any time. Good people in PA, but will only go back for short visits...........I'm a FROG now. The kids want to move down here to join us. They love it here as well. A Central PA group sounds great.

Thanks for your response!! Great idea - Central PA group!!! That might help with our transition to TV!! Love the idea of not too much traffic, but how is the weather during these summer months!! Any suggestions for handling the heat???

Since this is the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, guess you may be glad you are out of the area due to the influx of tourists??? We've been watching it on television!!! When you go back for short visits, I assume you fly North??? We have a little dog, so that may not be an option for us!!! At this early date, we are not sure we will become "FROGS"? Give us a year or two!!!
