I am a future villager doing some research. My husband and I have been planning on coming to TV for quite some time and have been doing a lot of research and viewing homes for sale. We will be retired in a year and a half.

We noticed several nice homes that have been up for sale for quite a long time and haven't sold like many other homes similar to them. The only difference is that these particular homes were listed in "family neighborhoods".....(I believe in Bison Valley or something like that).

Are there certain areas that are not conducive to retired living, (too far from town squares, too far from golf courses and restaurants, etc.), and perhaps THAT is why those homes are not selling very quickly? We notice that many of the villages homes go up for sale and are pending very quickly after being listed.

Also, is there a website or a link out there somewhere that shows a map of the entire Villages layout, so that we would have something to look at to be able to see where each main area of the villages is located?

It would be so helpful to see the layout of each village on a map. Thank you so much! We look so forward to retirement, and cannot wait to join all of you!

These "family areas" are just that, for families, and residents there don't have access to the amenities of The Villages, and also don't pay the amenity fees. If you want retirement and all the activities that go along with it, don't consider these family areas. Bison Valley is one of them

This will help a little. I'm still looking for a better map. BTW, welcome to Talk of the Villages. Have you been here before? I'd suggest the Lifestyle Preview Visit. You will love it. I'll post more information as I find it. Sit back and relax and enjoy the forum.

Here are a couple of additional maps. See if they help.

when you view listings on the villages website there is an insert of a map [that can be clicked on for enlargement] that will give you an idea where a house is located. you can zoom in as well as out and move the map in various directions by dragging it around.

a similar map function is also found on The Villages (http://www.lylesellsfla.com/) and probably on trulia and zillow websites, too - for pre-owned homes.

This is the map I use all the time when looking for a rental as we are going to rent first to make sure we make the right decision.

I copied it on to an excel spread sheet typed the names of the villages with their numbers into columns so I could do a sort by name and another list by number so I could find what I was looking for quickly.

Gracie, just guessing but I don't think they are here. They should call the sales office to order a map..........don't you agree?

Thank you so much everyone! You have all been so helpful. We live in Buffalo NY and cannot wait to get away from the winters up here. We will do some further research, and we do look forward to experiencing the preview plan.

Thanks again for all of your help and suggestions!

Last year I ordered over the phone with my credit card the $5 map of The Villages from Banner Mercantile in Lake Sumter Landing, phone: 352-753-2129. The map arrived in the mail a few days later.

Last month when I was in The Villages visiting a open house, a TV agent was nice enough to give me a $5 2013 map of The Villages.

Good luck with your house hunting!

The villages map is Good and give you an idea of of where each village and street are located. However best advice we got when house hunting was to also use google map. The TV map doesn't really show you some of the things you may want to avoid like the railroad tracks, water treatment plant, etc are located but google maps will.
