Tire choice experience

Has anyone had any experience with Tire Choice at Colony Plaza. Either for your car or your golf cart and was it good or bad?

First experience was very good for repairing a flat and changing fron air to nitrogen for all of the tires. Went back for an oil change and they tried to up sell me for tie rods and shocks, over $1000! Took car to Wildwood Auto and they said yes they were old but not in immediate need of changing. I had other work done there on the 2nd car and was pleased. So much for a coupon on the oil change. Plus, Sumter County use Wildwood for all of there vehicles.

Last October I took my 2011 Yamaha gas cart in for it's yearly maintenance. I called first to make an appointment and they said none is needed. I drove in around 11am and they started work within about ten minutes. They changed the oil and spark plug, rotated the tires and lubed the chassis. They charged me $49.99 and I was on my way in about an hour. I think I'll stay with them for my cart. I also noticed they had on display golf tires and most of the fancy SS style golf cart wheels.

Have been very happy with their service - automobile only. If you get their credit card and charge your oil change it's a steal - also gets you 10% off most purchases. Happy with them. If they suggest something is needed you make the call. Told us we needed a new battery, didn't do it, and sure enough a week later had to replace the battery.

Came down in January via auto train with my 14 year old VW Beetle. We were lucky to have made it.

I kept putting the car on the back burner what with buying a home and all the rest that was going on.

Well we broke down with a boat load of groceries one day just after moving in.

Some very good Villagers took the groceries and my wife home while I got a tow to Tire Choice (Tri-County was not answering the phone...this was Friday before Memorial Day).

They took it right in gave me a ride home. Had blown the generator.

Three weeks later I broke the starter tumbler and they took me right in again.

Billy Wheeler there at Colony is my mechanic from now on...that's my experience.

I had a good experience with them. Mom noticed one of my tires was really low and we were leaving in the morning for our 1,100 mile trip home. Granted it was a minor problem but it might have been a big problem on I-75. They checked all 4 tires and the air pressure was completely different in all 4 tires. The dealership at home had checked the tires two weeks earlier. They put air in all 4 tires and didn't charge me anything.

My experience with the Colony Tire Choice last year was very good. Had to replace the tires on my golf cart and went over to talk to them. Picked out the new tires and had them installed in less than 45 minutes with no appointment.
A couple of months ago my wife had a flat tire on her golf cart. I used an air compressor to refill the tire and followed her over to Tire Choice. They promptly fixed the flat for her and did not charge her.

There was a previous Thread regarding Colony Tire Choice that is worth reviewing by using "search" bar. My only problem is the Upselling that these places attempt on new customers. That's the way they can make real money. Careful----they will sell you something that you don't need.

Tire City LOVES to upsell; went there once & NEVER AGAIN!
Word of mouth is the BEST advertising.

If they do good work at a fair price when they try to upsell "just say no". It's no different than when McDonalds asked "would you like fries with that".

It is true that you can simply say "no." However, there is an ethical issue when they are using scare tactics and you believe that you are being deliberately misled. I have experienced this at Tire Choice on more than one occasion.

Have not had that experience - like I said in a previous post they said I needed a new battery and sure enough a week later my battery died.

Had 4 new run flat tires installed. Suggested that I have alignment and I said no thanks. Said they'd check it for free. I said no thanks. Said it'll only take a minute. I said no thanks.
