Dog urine crop circles?

Given there are no acceptable places in TV for a dog to go but in their own yards, the one place dogs are especially loathe to go, the clash will go on between dog owners and those without canines.

I started out as a new homeowner thinking my dog would kill my grass with urine so she learned to mostly go in pine straw. After two months I noticed that her off-target deposits had a payoff.

Here are four photos, not of the same spot mind you, all taken today, showing progression of grass temporary damage and then health after a dog urine episode.

You are absolutely correct Kitty - the urine spots come in stronger and healthier, but only during the rainy season. In the fall and winter they burn out big time 'cause there is no water diluting them.

that's good to know...she's a smart girl and can learn where to pee when the time comes. For now, I have to undo pee in the pine straw training in favor of please pee on the grass!

I have a quick question for dog owners - I will be signing soon and I wonder if I can put up a tiny border/ 12 inch fence in an area on the side of my home and mulch the area for my little dog to go potty. It would be absolutely not visible from the street and not visible from my neighbors. I would keep it very neat and tidy. It would isolate it from the lawn care people yet give her a safe area to do her business all the time. What do you think?

As I understand it, the official answer is no, you aren't allowed any fence construction...you might make an allowable sort of hedge...suggest you get an official answer before you sign if it's a deal breaker. Invisible from neighbors isn't the same as allowed...

How about concrete curbing which would hold the mulch back and is allowed in the villages. 4$ a foot

I don't think that would be any problem. My daughter lives in manhatten and her dog as well as others go right on the curb or street, of course she has her little bags to pick up.

We came up with a solution for this. We had a small dog and wanted to be able to let her out while we were on day trips. We got tired of asking the neighbors. I built a 4 foot by 6 foot cage, eighteen inches high. It was made out of pvc tubing, painted green and covered with screen. It was very light and easily removable for cleaning. Our small dog was protected from possible predators because I screened the top as well. I put a small doggie door in the lanai screening, and another one for the sliders. This solution worked perfectly. Sold it all when the dog passed and repaired the screen. Would not do this though if any neighbors could see it from their homes

Suzi, my friends did this with a beautiful little black iron-look fence behind their golf cart garage area. It's a cbs house and the neighbor's wall on that side has no windows. The area is grass; I don't know how they cut it; maybe the grass doesn't grow well d/t the urine but it looks ok.

Just something I have been told by my vet ... ticks love pine straw. I would not be teaching your beloved four legged friends to be going in the pine straw and then coming back into the house.
Just thought I would share.
