Sunday evening after playing golf at Glenview we were driving south on the golf path passing Saddlelbrook when we saw a man urinating at the second hole.
Then the next day I was at Palmer, I just loaded my clubs on the cart, turned around to go and fill my water bottle when I saw a man washing his clubs in the drinking fountain.

Unfortunately I do believe it - I live on Glenview and you would not believe what we see happening on the golf course, and unfortunately the great majority of the people involved are elderly. Sometimes we have the pleasure of seeing a couple of the young pros play and their manners on the golf course are impeccable. We put it down to the huge number of people living here now - the more people, the more diverse the community.

Madelaine, You KNOW I have the highest respect for everything you write but since I am um....elderly, I guess, it all depends how you look at it, then I gotta say this. That guy didn't care where he peed when he was twenty and some people would wash their clubs in the holy water fountain. Golf is way important around here.

I am teasing you a bit Madelaine, I am NOT getting after you. You are a dear person and a smart one too.

I agree with you Gracie, and we too come under the very mature heading, so it was not necessarily directed at the age. I think I was trying to make the point that it is people who should know better, but they obviously don't, or they just don't care - when something like this is mentioned I think of my Father and the very last thing that man would have done is pee'd in public.

(And thanks for the kind words).

Maybe the guy you thought was urinating didn't drive his ball past the ladies' tees.

Oh, so you were just kidding!

Nope. I wasn't kidding, I was making a point, I hope with a light heart and a smile, I was defending my elderly state and making sure that someone I respect mightily was not offended.

Around here and I include myself, Golf is not a matter of life and death, it is much more important than that. (We have a sign in our home that says that).

So if I thought washing my clubs in the holy water font would help my game, I would do it, but I'd ask father first. ;)

Maybe when they build a golf course in a senior community they should put in a couple more outhouses----and I don't mean right behind someone's home. Mainly just for us old' guys as you ladies don't seem to "go" as often. Just kidding---sort of. No excuse for that kind of behavior. Fore!

I could use a rest room at the TG mailboxes, halfway around my walk. Dog does a much better job of holding it.

And another obnoxioux habit... some men on the pickleball court take the lid off of the water cooler and dunk their hats in it. Ewww!

what worries me is that people will violate more rules of common social behavior than I do.
It never crossed my mind til now that other people in my hood might excel me in behaving badly.

Think positively....what if the situation was reversed...what if he had peed in the water fountain and cleaned his clubs in the bushes?

It has been observed by a reliable source, unfortunately, over the summer months.

I don't believe that. Why start a rumor?

This is NOT a rumor. It is a fact. Do not accuse me of starting a rumor. I DO NOT start or perpetuate rumors.

Trying to maintain perspective. I think there are a lot of people in TV who couldn't care less about golf. It certainly is no excuse for that behavior.

A lady does the same at the tennis courts near us. No rumour needed - just the facts.

Anyway, regarding peeing on the golf course, did you know that in the UK it is legal for a pregnant woman to pee in a policeman's helmet? I guess the moral of both is "if you've gotta go, you've gotta go".

I think the scenario described in the first post is further proof that having money does not eradicate ignorance.

At a private country club elsewhere, those two ignoramuses would have been expelled from membership in a heartbeat. It speaks to why private clubs exist, whether or not one agrees with reviewing and excluding some who apply for membership.

Baloney.

CFRANCE does not start rumors. I know her personally and she is a very credible person and one that is entirely reliable.

I am shocked by what she said but I believe it completely and entirely.

AND Golf is VERY important in this community. VERY important. It is one of those things that become evident once YOU LIVE HERE.

I am boiling mad. I hope the mods don't give me a check.

My rule of thumb is to always assume ANY public food or water source is potentially contaminated, whether it be a water fountain or a buffet. But I must say, a hat in the water dispenser wouldn't have occurred to my suspicious self. Gross people are slinking about everywhere among all us sorta regular people. I once saw an elderly woman return a half-eaten bag of popcorn to a public popcorn trolley dispenser. Yuck. And yuck again.

Cfrance did not see it herself. When you repeat something someone told you it is a rumor. So I say again....Baloney. I have a feeling that someone simply ran water over their hat and did not dunk their hat right in the cooler. You can believe what you want GG but you are backing up a rumor.

Actually, I did see it myself, at Pimlico and Churchill, in the warmer month before we left for the summer last year. I reported that my friend then saw it at Pimlico in the summer months. Why in the H would I make something like this up? It's DISGUSTING.

Oh, and they did indeed take the lid off of the cooler and dunk their hat into the ice water. And the next time I see it happen, I will leave the court and go complain inside the rec center.

If you see them do it again, you should help them cool off by dumping the whole cooler on them.

Why can't you just use those urinals with sand in them that you carry on the golf cart??

Oh, so now you say you did see it. Your story has changed.

So let me get this straight, you actually saw some sweaty man dip his sweaty hat into the water cooler that people drink from and you said nothing!!! Instead you let people drink from it and possibly get sick. Is that right? OMG! I don't know what is worse, the man for doing it or you for not saying anything.

Joe, you asked for it. I'm watching you verbally trash CFrance and I'm saying something about it. Your posts are malicious, crass and self-serving egotism. CF and GG are delightful ladies and you sir, are no gentleman.

Yes, I did. And everyone else saw it too and did not drink from the cooler. And no one said anything. Some of us are not very confrontational, but I'm getting there. These are very aggressive advanced player, with seemingly a sense of entitlement.

And methinks thou dost protest too much.

You're not making things better. So you and your group left and for the rest of the day or until the cooler was empty other people drank from it. No one in your group said anything or at least reported it so the cooler could be emptied! Unbelievable!!! Being confrontational has nothing to do with it. Advanced players???? Sheeeeesh.

So at least now you believe my account.

Not everybody has achieved your same level of assertiveness, nor the ability to think instantly on his/her feet. Some of us have to go back and think about things we should have done.

So I give. Go ahead and have the last word.

Well said, CFrance.

Sometimes being totally grossed out leaves a normal, thinking person speechless.

Why do you think that gomoho? Because I dared to challenge a beloved TOTV poster that was endorsed by GG and kittywhatever? Cfrance should have told someone to replace the water cooler because she and her friends saw someone dip there sweaty hat into the cooler. She and her friends were wrong but instead of admitting it she tried to defend her actions. Now she is a martyr and I'm the bad guy for pulling the facts out of her. Other people drank from the cooler but she and her friends were safe because they "saw it" and left. I guess you think that's OK. Oh, and in her first post on the subject she said "some MEN dip their hats into the cooler" not some MAN. So it went from some to one.

The TOTV clique strikes again. You should know by now that I rank the clique's opinion of me right up there with dog poop. Be careful what you say because I'll be watching.

Boy Howdy.

I like the line on a television commercial where children are doing their homework in a living room..........

"Trevor? Have you eaten today? You seem a little grouchy."

That smart little girl was just echoing a sweet mother. (a perceptive ad writer)

It always makes me smile when I see it.
