I've been involved in R/C almost 30 years now. I've done just about everything there is, from boats, planes, helicopters, cars, gliders, gas, glo, e-power, etc. Over the years I've settled on e-power. Everything I have with the exception of a couple cars is electric these days. With the advancement in battery technologies e-power has really come into its own and I'm sure will continue to grow by leaps and bounds.

I mostly fly helicopters now as I tend to me more mechanically inclined. I have a total of four e-powered helicopters, 2 50 sized T-Rex 600's and the smaller version the T-Rex SE. I have have micro or indoor heli called the Blade CX. Great for those winter nights when you just want a little stick time. I also have a few fixed wing as well all e-powered of course. As a hobby and business we do Aerial Photography from our helicopter which is quite interesting and fun. You can see us here at http://www.pmaerialphoto.com

Lately I'm embarking into a new project called FPV (First Person View) or sometimes known as Virtual Flying. I guess there’s no better way to explain this other than to show you a few videos of how it works. This isn't my rig but I'm basically in the process of building the same thing. Hope you all enjoy the new forums and this very cool video. I love technology!

I have flown R/C aircraft for many years and am really impressed with the virtual reality flying. Are these systems for sale yet or they still in the hobbyist stage.
Thanks,

You can pretty much buy everything off the shelf. The hardest part is getting the head tracker module but there are a couple places to get them, one being in Sweden. They run about $160

dklassen, would you be willing to come to an E-Flyer meeting to show us all of this technology or better yet a real flying demo at the Polo Field one morning?
Contact me.

It's rather difficult and expensive to pack all my equipment and get it on a plane, especially in today's climate. However, hopefully by spring I will no longer be a California captive and a drive over would be more possible. ;D

I don't have any time frames but I would certainly be willing to work something out when the time comes. In the mean time there are some pretty good resources available on the various technologies employed for FPV, Aerial Photography, etc.

One is my site at www.aplanding.com the others are

Sorry, I thought that this was a Villages, Florida web site and that all posts were from a full time or seasonal resident of the Villages. Guess I better go back a few steps or at least check the profiles of each contributor. Yes, I have visited some of these sites and flown a model via a tele downlink, now limited to taking stills or video from onboard cameras in some of my models.
