quite interesting. Would love to hear from someone who has had this done. I do know that I love our lanai floor that is done with river rock. Hopefully you'll get some responses.

I can just imagine how beautiful your lanai would be with river rock on the floor.......very unique.

The first time we saw river rock was up at a resort ranch in Tabernash Colorado. All of the huge walk in showers had the river rock on the shower floor.....

Now, we are beginning to see it locally in Vermont as well.........so glad you shared about your lanai floor.........again, it's a nice change for flooring....

If everyone liked the same thing, there would only be vanilla ice cream.

I like the tile we have on the floor of our shower.

On the issue of decorating, I read where rethought classic busts are now being used by decorators even in contemporary settings.

A couple of years ago a big accent trend was mercury glass. This years accent colors seem to be a dull orange and turquoise, a strong turquoise.

I love trend watching in dcor, sometimes the combinations are very beautiful to me and sometimes not so much. The colors of light fixtures and faucets can date a house just as options like tile and color.

I wish we had a forum just for decorating and projects and for posting peoples dcor choices. I saw one of the most beautiful interiors of a home a couple of weeks ago when I went to buy a larger lanai table from someone in Charlotte. I wish she would take pictures of her home inside and post them. To me it was a work of art.

She had a glass patio table for sale. Mine was too small, hers was too large, we traded. I am happy, hope she is happy.

Oh...the subject was riverrock on the floors of showers.

We have a HUGE river rock shower that we designed in the house we are just closing on (sold) in Seattle. It is fantastic. Everyone who saw the shower, a huge walk in shower with high ceilings, river rock to the floor, river rock on the floor, and a granite sitting bench, loved it. It requires a lot of grout and the end result is just gorgeous. We had a massage shower installed as well with about 9 massage jets, a large rain shower and a hand held shower. The river rock feels good standing on it. You will love it.

Yes, that's exactly how they were in Colorado....as far as the floors of the huge walk in shower.......but walls were glass.

After I posted, I thought "I should mention how good it feels on your feet" but glad you said that............

Very original and unique. Lucky new owners......

The ones at the Devils Thumb Ranch in Tabernash Colorado had the river rock on the floors but total glass enclosure.........it was like almost totally surrounded by glass walls.........the claw foot tub was over on the other side of this huge bathroom........

First time we'd ever experienced river rock......but as I said earlier and you mentioned in your post as well, it did feel really good on the feet.

I put river rock in my shower while I was renovating both bathrooms. I/we love it. It is a great non-skid surface and you get a massage for your feet at the same time when you move your feet back and forth.

As far installing it it was not very different from tile. I bought the rock glued to a mesh in the rough shape of a 1 sq ft tile and laid it down on a bed of mortar. Easy peazey. I would recommend sealing the rock first before you put in the grout though. Otherwise the grout may want to stick to the texture of the stones. But other than that, it was fairly straight forward, just like tiling.

Good luck!
