Television and ?? Internet

We have recently closed on our house in The Village of St. Charles. I need to consider my options for Television and Internet. I know that there have been a lot of threads on this subject but my question is very specific.

I am considering Directv since I have had good results for many years. I can also turn it off when back in Wisconsin.

For those that are using Directv, what is your Internet provider? I think I can bundle it with CenturyLink. I am interested in hearing from others experience.

We love DTV and it is a plus that when you put it on vacation your bill is $0. We use Century link for our land line and DSL. A bit slower than cable but less expensive too.

Direct TV lets you take the receivers from one location to another. No charge. Call them when you get there and change the billing address to get the local channels. Did this yesterday and it took ten minutes.

I have Comcast for Internet and hate the service but it is the fastest speed available.

Recommend Direct TV and Brighthouse for internet. sweet.

DirecTV and Centurylink give you a discount for bundling both. Mine is $10 a month, but they may have newer specials or packages now.

We have Direct tv and Comcast internet. I wish we could have Brighthouse, but they don't (won't?) go north of 466A. There is no contract with Brighthouse, and we loved it when we had it on Anna Maria Island. Too bad.

We have to have two separate accounts with Comcast. It's a ripoff. I can't wait to shut the MI account down for good when we move to TV permanently next week. They will only allow to be on vacation mode for six months, so we were double charges for two months this year.

We use Comcast for television and the internet here in TV and also up north for television, internet and landline. As an example, I put my Comcast services on a seasonal hold in TV but have had to call them twice regarding their billing which did get straightened around. Just prior to coming back north, I called the regional offices up here and requested 'a promotional deal' as I always do. When my seasonal suspension in TV ends, I will do the same. It does require four phone calls minimum between seasonal holds and start-ups but I've been happy for years. I had written to Comcast requesting a reasonable rate for two homes but their excuse is that Comcast is regional....meaning different deals can be had.

Be sure to ask each about discounts and incentives to stay wi DTV and to sign up wi Comcast!

Just wondering...does anybody use DirecTV for Internet also? Is it not as fast or reliable as other options?

I'm leaning toward DirecTV for TV, but I'm uncertain regarding Internet.

we changed our minds. afyer switching to comcast we opted out within the 30 days period. mainly because of billing issues and the lack of concern from comcast to rectify the situation. tomorrow century link will install their equipment.

I think that is a good idea. I'm surprised no one mentioned PRISM with Century Link. We rented last winter there and our place had Prism. It was like Direct TV but liked it better. Not sure you can get it in your area though. I think you will be happy with CL. Remember , EVERY provider has troubles at times. I think your support is most important. Good Luck!
