I think we are affected by the Owens Corning roof shingle problem affecting houses built after 2007. A lot of our neighbors are getting roofs replaced here in Hemingway but we are getting a giant run around from Villages warranty, Owens Corning, and the roofer. Basically, they are asking us to go up on the roof, pull off some tiles and send them. This does not seem right to me. Does anyone else have experience with this problem? Any tips for getting it done?

We called Sack roofing and they handled everything.

Did you have to contact Owens Corning to get a case number? That's what we were told to do and it's not working out so well.

Sack instructed us to get online to Owens Corning and file our complaint, they sent claim number and forms for us to fill out. Sack took care of the paperwork, came to the house and removed shingle sample took photos of roof. Samples were sent to Owens Corning. We received approval from Owens Corning with instructions on contacting roofing company etc. and check came in the mail for labor.

We used C & C roofing. Filed for a claim...called C & C. They took a few photos and tore off the necessary shingle. I mailed everything to Owens-Corning. Called twice to see how everything was going as far as reviewing claim. Received a check about 7 weeks from start of claim...called C & C to start work. C & C got the permits...did a complete rip-off and re-roofed. This all took place in 2011. Cost for Owens-Corning, just under $ 6000 labor and they supplied all the shingles. Wish you good luck.

I had a good rapport with the rep. from O/C. A little sugar goes a long way in solving a problem. Remember they have been dealing with this problem for quite a while so I'm sure they have faced a bit of abuse.

If you feel you are getting a hassle. contact the Property Owners Association (POA) and poa4us@hotmail.com. They have a person or so who will contact you that specializes in moving these claims along properly.

We just received a letter from Owens Corning saying they were investigating concerns related to shingles and would be inspecting roofs in late June. They were here yesterday and said we would receive a letter in a couple weeks. We did not initiate the contact.

What years are covered by the Owens Corning roof shingle problem? Our house was probably shingled in late 2011.
