I can't believe I haven't seen this posted on TOTV or maybe I missed it.

If you are traveling I 95 in either direction through Richmond, VA DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT miss taking 295 around Richmond. DO NOT MISS 295.

The traffic is funneling into one lane on each side of 95 around mile marker 78.

I reached Richmond about 8 pm and it wasn't too bad heading North but the poor people on the Southbound side had it worse.

I don't know how long this construction will continue but 295 around Richmond is a must until further notice.

Thanks for the heads up. My daughter and grand baby are coming in from Raleigh, NC. Will 295 take them back onto 95 after construction?? How far should they take it. They are traveling at night. Maybe wont be such a mess??

Apparently I failed geography! VA is north of NC! Must be having a senior moment!

I believe Happinow was referring to his family traveling North from N.C.

Yes! The 295 by-pass will get them back onto 95 just after the construction zone. For those traveling South on 95 they will get onto 295 just before the construction zone. But my guess is that they will experience some congestion prior to reaching the turn-off.

Good Luck. Just be sure not to travel 95 through Richmond.

Incidentally, heading North there is only one sign indicating the construction ahead but doesn't tell the true story that everything funnels into one lane. I took 95 in the late evening, thinking I'd be O.K. BIG MISTAKE.
