I read this today in the Daily Commercial. It is a very scary story about a Leesburg woman who died after surgery at a Lady Lake Clinic.

Very scary indeed. I note that the doctor has had no history of disciplinarian actions against him, and that the likely cause was the failure to start antibiotics. What a tragedy.

One of the most dangerous places to be is a hospital or a clinic. What makes this case even worse was that it appears to be an elective one.

What a shame. To have made it through bypass surgery and then die from a cosmetic surgery. So sad.

Some thing to keep in mind: There is no such thing as "minor surgery".
Any surgical procedure carries a risk of very serious complications, even if the incidence of those complications is very rare.
Corollary to the rule above: There is no minor surgery, but there are "minor surgeons".

I agree w all posts above.
In addition to this tragic story,
My cousin's wife almost died in a similar procedure.
She had aken birth control pills, forgot to mention this ( dumb, I know), and, developed blood clots due to the liposuction....was in icu for days. Was saved but had to take anti clotting meds for months.

In 2010, my 33 year old niece died after having liposuction surgery in NY. It was out patient surgery (which I think is very bad considering the trauma the body goes through during this surgery) and she was in severe pain for days after and every time she went back to the doctor, he changed the pain pills. Sadly, about a week or so after the surgery, she passed away leaving 2 young babies, 2 year old and 11 months. We tried very hard to talk her out of having this surgery, to no avail. She was determined.
This is a very difficult surgery, in my opinion, and I would not hesitate to try to encourage any one not to do it....

You can die from dental surgery. I don't know how anyone can take these things lightly.

With age the skin sags and wrinkles. It is a part of the aging process. We need to be content with the way we look because a nip and tuck here and there could come with serious consequences. I would think that diet and exercise would accomplish what we need to accomplish in our older years. Cosmetic surgery, I expect, is very painful and can be dangerous. Not worth it in the long run. We need to be happy with what God gave us. I feel horrible for this poor woman. She looked good to me without the surgery! Don't you wonder how these celebrities don't have more problems with this kind of surgery?? Take a look at Joan Rivers and Bruce Jenner. Plastic surgery gone bad. And Lisa Rinna's lips?? I wouldn't pay anything to look like any of them.

Please stop about someone's ideas of winkles, etc.!
This poor man went to bury a son and ended up burying a wife, as well.
I, also, feel sorry for those Irish doctors that had to deal with the impossible situation that they were faced with. The woman must have been in incredible pain when she got off the plane.
I hope that the board throws the book at this doctor, as it was all so unnecessary.

In Hospital Deaths from Medical Errors at 195,000 per Year USA (http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/releases/11856.php)
This is yet another good reason to live the healthiest lifestyle you possibly can. If you do, you will greatly lower your risk for being hospitalized. (This is why I don't eat everything in moderation. "Everything in moderation" is a killer.)
People get all upset about hospital deaths but generally don't see that it has any relationship to lifestyle.

Plastic surgery......Beauty belongs to the young. We all had our 15 minutes in the sun. Now its time to explore and apply those other qualities and learned experiences . Beside physical beauty is only one dimensional personality the depth of people's experiences, education, etc. Remember the muscle man in the commercial. I pick up heavy things and put them dow. I pick up heavy things and put them down... I pick up......
