The golf cart path along 466 running from Laurel Manor to the bridge at Sumter is looking very shabby. Weeds are taking over the shrubs and the grass is in poor condition especially in front of Bridgeport at Laurel Valley.
I've left a message with Janet Tutt; I hate to see our beautiful landscaping neglected.

Interesting point - we have been here a year and noticed a decline in the overall appearance of TV. Everything was always perfect - never saw a week or shrub growing where it shouldn't be. Not so much lately. When we first arrived I commented I didn't think the are north of 466 was taken care of as well a south of 466. Now I am thinking the area south of 466 is not taken care of as well as the area south of 466A. Am I nuts or is this the reality???

No I don't think you're nuts. The north area below 466 isn't as pristine as it once was. Immediately South of 466 the flower beds outside the gates of the various Villages are shrinking. What once was lush is now much smaller but still pretty. I rarely complain (not too much to complain about) but I love the landscaping in TV and want it to remain beautiful.

You all may be right and usually are....but weeds are growing right now...
well, like weeds. This is the wet, weed growin' time of year.
Plus bushes are sending out ungainly branches...practically overnight.

You are right Gracie - it is that time of year. But I didn't notice it last year - could be cause it wasn't happening or I was still in awe of the beauty that surrounds me.

I heard that the developer has changed the company that was doing the landscaping.

I would have to think there is more than one landscaping company.

Mike's Maintenance is the only truck I ever see.
There's a bunch of weeds in the newer sidewalk on Colony going west just past the bank. I keep wanting to stop & pull them or bring my weed killer in my cart the next time. Maybe after a certain number of years we're supposed to start policing our own areas! ;)

I would think the developer has a vested interest in the look of the newer areas adjacent to the new homes established areas not at all. Isn't there a fee structure that takes care of the finished areas ongoing after the village is built out? A budget that maintains the common areas by district?

Does the developer still pay for maintenance of the public areas in the districts that have been turned over?

Budget is in place right now for ongoing maintenace...............not waiting for build out. Budgets are available at Village Community Development Districts (http://www.districtgov.org).

Couldn't remember the what it was called (Community Development District) MY point was that those villages that are finished are if I understand you correctly under the CDD control and budget while those that are still under construction are up to the developer who has a very high incentive to keep it looking good and very deep pockets.

Thanks Bogie, but it's the same as my own yard - I don't want to call. I pay for service and expect it to be done. Hire a supervisor to drive around and see what they are not doing. They need to be proactive no reactive. I know it is a lot of territory, but they are being paid a lot of money I'm sure.

I think part of the problem is that it is summer...weeds and such are growing faster and it rains a lot causing delays in maintenance. Are you comparing summer months to summer months? Just wondering.

With all the rain lately they've probably gotten behind a bit.

Yes, I am comparing summer to summer. Only arrived last June and that is my benchmark for comparison; however, as I mentioned earlier I may have been awestruck when I first arrived and didn't see anything neglected.

I don't see any area as being neglected. I live north of 466 and our areas are well kept, but the weather this year has caused everything to grow like a jungle and that may be a problem. Plus the heavy torrential rain will knock flowers off just about any of the annuals. I think it's time of the year problem. I just had to prune my yard just like I do in the spring because everything has gone crazy with the heat and the rain.

I'm happy to report that there were several of Mike's Landscape people weeding and trimming on 466 this afternoon. :highfive:
