Florida residents age 65 or older do not need a fishing license. Lake Sumter is a "no fishing" lake.

Watch out for alligators when fishing from shore in the ponds and lakes!

A license is required for everyone over 16. You do not need one if you are over 65. Here's a link to all the Villages rules for fishing. It also lists places to fish.
