Hello,
We noted a new neighborhood has opened in Collier. We saw only spec homes for sale. Do you know if land for custom homes is no longer in the immediate future?
Thanks

Hello, I don't know your answer...just have a question for you....
Bu custom do you mean taking an existing floor plan to your design meeting and making the few adjustments you want? ie expansions and/or golf cart garages etc.
I am assuming that you know there really are no custom homes.

Designers and Premier homes can be built on a lot you choose. New Cottages can only be bought as spec homes

Our sales person said that you can build but that they are pushing the spec houses, especially in designers. The spec homes are discounted, build to suit isn't. We told our rep what we wanted and kept scouring the spec's that were coming up on the web site. She had a bunch that were close to what we wanted as far as design but not for location or price. We said no enough that she worked down to some spec units that we liked, finally bought one that we had spotted on the web site.

You can see all the designer lots for sale on TV website under Neighborhoods. There appears to still be a good number of lots only for sale and you can pick the type of home you want on the lot you choose (as long as the lot is large enough to accommodate the home).

SSmith,
Thanks for responding. Yes, I was referring to you pick the house style and upgrades on the lot you want. Spec meant you purchase a new home already built.

We decided to build. ALthough the spec homes show discounts we got much more for our money by building. But we were somewhat sepcific with what we wanted. If you go spec, you must take what they give you. Many things can easily be upgraded after construction and at a lower price (some things cannot).
There is nothing to lose by contacting a saleperson and seeing what he/she can do. Then compare. We are extremely happy that we are building. Our sales person is LYnn Peterson. He has been with TV for a long time and is very honest and works to meet your goals. (Are we pleased or what!)

There are a lot of "angles", or considerations or whatever, when you buy a home whether spec, new or pre-owned. I would go with an experienced sales person. They will save you a lot of time. Looks like TheCollierCpl found one.
