View Full Version : What is the perfect circle I see?

Just curious, what is the perfect circle of land just NE of the Nancy Lopez Golf course and south of Belle Meade Circle? Looks to be about 1/4 mile across and totally void of any roads or improvements. All of the other wetlands areas are irregular in shape, and this parcel appears to be surrounded by TV so it surely isn't privately owned. Just happened to notice it on one of my GoogleEarth flyovers. Anyone know?

Note: this is a serious question so please don't cause me any undue mental anguish and/or emotional distress with flippant, borderline comical answers. LOL

20 hits and no one knows yet. Let us know when we can start with the flippant, borderline comical answers. I'm prepared.

Not 100% sure but I think it is a wildlife preservation area probably for burrowing owls. There are many areas set aside for either wetland or wildlife preservation in The Villages.

Pooh, thanks for posting the image, but somehow it got rotated 180 degrees.

The circle is NE of the golf course.

Well, even if disorientated, at least we see it is indeed a perfect circle. I probably rotated the map without even realizing it....:D

If the map says it's a preserve, it is, Angie. Not a bad place for such a bird sanctuary .

I think I might be looking at the wrong thing... The map you posted... doesn't look like there is anything there... That's why I think I'm wrong...

As previously stated, it is officially the Lindsey Morse Mathews Kestrel Preserve. However, it is actually the secret location for a future close encounter of the ninth kind!

my next door neighbor says that there are several burrowing owl nests in the "new" area being developed along Morse south of 466A. He likes to walk and he spotted them. He's concerned about how the developer will preserve their habitat.

Lindsey Morse Mathews Kestrel Preserve

It abuts with holes 3, 4 and 5 of Briarwood and can also be seen from Belle Meade Circle at the north end of Woodbury.

Thanks everyone for your replies, both serious as well as the humorous.

Has anyone observed Kestrels at this preserve? My wife is an avid bird watcher & I'm sure she'll want to check this out on our next visit to TV.
