Just wondering how many of TV residents are from Virginia? Mainly the Hampton Roads area? We are from Chesapeake and moving down the first week in August! And very excited! Maybe we can all get together some time and exchange "how we came to TV" stories.

We are from Virginia Beach, which area of Chesapeake (Greenbrier or Western Branch)? We moved in this April and are just now starting neighborhood activities. We are very happy and are glad we made the move. We would love to meet you. Let me know when you are settled.

Montclair VA...near Quantico. Va was good to us but absolutely hated the traffic and congestion in the area. When people talk about traffic problems here in TV...most have NO idea of what others face everyday.

Here's a link to all the clubs in TV. There's a listing for a Virginia State club that you may be interested in.

Bay Kid, we have fond memories of the then, rustic, Gywnne's Island, and the fabulous sea food buffet at the only restaurent, located at the Marina. The island offered a peaceful retreat 40 years ago.

We are living in Sterling Va (Northern VA). My husband was born and raised in Carrol County VA. We are also in the 20% but not retired yet and go back and forth. We met a lot of people from Northern VA here. We love it and can't wait to be here full time.

That restaurant has been closed for many years. It was great in its time. Most of Mathews is still the same.

So true. We lived in Lake Ridge for 12 years and left to find a better quality of life. Three to four hours commuting to work was too grueling!

It's so great to see more folks moving here from VA! We moved here 8 years ago and have no regrets but meet few people from our fine state. I am a native Virginian an my husband lived there most of his life. We moved from Midlothian which is outside Richmond. We were members of one of the new Villages VA club but believe it must have disbanded. The original VA club meets at Paradise on Saturdays which doesn't work well in our schedule. I would be great to see another VA club form within the Villages (as many states have more than one club), preferably further south in the Villages due to the continuing expansion. Maybe one that is a little less structured, i.e. less activities at rec centers, more activities outside, and possibly get togethers at members homes/restaurants, in other words, a group that just wants to get together to make new friends from VA and have a good time doing it. I do not intend to discourage consideration for the Original VA Club as I am sure it is a great group of people; unfortunately, it just doesn't work for me. Any thoughts from my fellow Virginians?

I, too, moved here from Midlothian. I'd love to see a Virginia group get started in the southern part. I think a dining out group in restaurants would be fun.

We felt it was too far from everything so we sold right before the big downturn. We have been in Alabama for a few years. Smith Mountain Lake is very pretty though.

For 49 years in Virginia I lived just south of Richmond. I remember YEARS ago we use to go eat at Nicks? in Yorktown. From what I remember it was on the rover kind of underneath a bridge. We had a summer home on the James River near Smithfield Virginia we would go to on the weekends and during vacations. We would travel into Newport News to go to the mall or eat while we stayed at the river.

Nick passed away first, then Mary died and left the restaurant/land to York County. A storm came along and flooded the restaurant and it was torn down. The county then rebuilt what is now known as Riverwalk. It is a really pretty area which does have a restaurant on the water side and also shops on both sides. There are activities on the weekends and also farmer's markets on Saturdays, plus the beach is always packed there at Yorktown! I also have great memories of eating at Nick's, the food was outstanding!

I was so young I don't remember all the foods I ate there. I'm sure it was mainly fish and crab. The one thing that I do remember was the house Greek salad dressing they used.
