On our next trip North, we intend on stopping by Charleston SC for a couple days.
We are not familiar with the town. Does anyone have any recommended sites or restaurants to see??

I think you will love Charleston sc. Stop in the visitor center in the city. You will find a great amount of information . There are many great places to eat all over the charleston area. Places to visit ,The aquarium, Ft Sumter , King street with all it's shopping, the market downtown. Take carriage ride while in the city. Go to the beautiful beaches. You will find many things to do in and around this beautiful city.

Charleston is beautiful and full of historical interest. It is a jewel! Be sure to take a horse and carriage tour Charleston Historic Carriage Tours with “Horse” and Buggy Rides (http://www.palmettocarriage.com) and see all the sights you can:

Carriage ride is wonderful. Lots of things to walk too while downtown. The market, battery park. Wonderful Hotel with high end restaurant is Charleston Place. St. Michaels church and their grave yard is worth seeing. They are both very old. If you want to drive out to Drayton Hall it is well worth the trip. No too far outside of Charleston. Also there is Middleton and Boone Hall. Boone Hall was used in a few movies. Drayton Hall has never been modernized. Lots of history in the area.

The Griffon - Charleston City Paper

This casual tavern refers to itself as "Charleston's Best Pub. ... may suggest a traditional British pub, but the heart of the Griffon is old-fashioned Southern cuisine.

Go to the visitors center first. They will have many suggestions for restaurants, tours, etc. Prior to your trip access tripadvisor.com which will give you ideas for hotels, restaurants and what to do and see. You will love Charleston.

Buckye,

I moved here from Charleston in November 2012. Charleston remains my favorite city in the country.

Here are the restaurants I would propose you check out.

Hanks , Seafood

Hall's Chop House ( best for Steak )

Husk

High Cotton

Fig

McCrady's

Slightly North of Broad ( Snobs )

Magnolias for lunch

If you are traveling after 4 PM and are hungry go to the Millhouse Steakhouse at exit 38 I 95.

Enjoy your trip and let me know how the restaurants work out for you.

Boone Hall Plantation is another lovely site to visit. The Trowler Restaurant is a nice place to eat. By all means, take a carriage ride and wall the battery.
