Yes, 8 lbs, 6 oz is a good size. Now we wait for the name. Do you think he will have a tiny crown?

I'll bet he is adorable and probably doesn't look too newborn. My niece was 8 lbs 5 oz and she looked like she was a month old. Now waiting for the name.

Wish we were in Niagra Falls on the Canadian side to see this in honor of the new royal baby...........we've stopped there often.
How exciting for all of you in the United Kingdom..........he will be a very fortunate baby indeed.......
I like the name Alexander.........which we heard mentioned just yesterday.
Maybe....... Alexander Charles Phillip ?
Or, Alexander William Charles Phillip?
What is Kate's dad's first name???????
Yes, a big baby too, as others have mentioned. My own "Leo" was plump and healthy at birth, weighing 8 lbs. 7 oz. They make beautiful babies.
Our daughter was also 8 lbs. 4 oz.........she came in 8 hours and our son later came in just 4 hours. Kate was in my prayers for a safe delivery.

I vote for John or Richard. Good king names that have not been used in a long time

I think it will be George Phillip Charles William.
And they will call him Will 2 and he will say " Will not!"

The British bookies have George as the favorite.

It was so nice to see Kate and William carry out the new baby just 24 hours after his birth.
Also, "daddy" did a great job putting the baby seat into the car.....then drive them away. It seems like yesterday we watched their wedding...........two years ago.
Happy news with so much joy shared by all, is a big improvement over recent happenings.

When our daughter was born in 1968, there was an enormous baby boy in the nursery at the hospital. He had weighed in at 14 pounds at birth.
The dad would bring the mom, who was also very large, several bunches of bananas a day. I kid you not. That was the biggest baby I ever saw with my own eyes. Our own were over 8 pounds each; nice and healthy. But the 14 pound baby was super big.

Just wondering if she had a back-up pink polka dot dress and he a pink shirt.
Probably so, or maybe they already knew it was a boy.

I agree -- that was great. I think both Kate and William will be very "hands on" parents. I heard on the television a few days ago that Prince Charles rarely saw his parents during the first 6 months of his life. It seemed like Princess Diana was a very hands on mom and is smiling down on the three of them.

I had wondered the exact same thing as you.........
During the pregnancy, the media said she made a few slipups re it being a girl baby.........but then we also heard the media say that they didn't want to know and actually didn't know what the sex of the baby would be........
So, probably yes, they had a backup outfit......I doubt if he would wear pink though........the blanket was yellow....neutral.
We never got to know ahead of time what our two children would be....back then it was still a "surprise" in 1968 and 1971.
However, when our own adult kids had their babies, they didn't want to know and didn't choose to know........so it was still a surprise for them.
Trends, I guess.

A "stay at home" mom is one that doesn't have to work outside the home.
She would be there to raise her children......
Kate has said she doesn't want a nanny......but does have a housekeeper.
She wants to be a hands on mom........more power to her.
Having had a working mom from age 5 and up, I always wanted to be at home to raise my family......and was fortunate enough to be able to do it.
They actually both wrote me personal letters when they were mid way through university, thanking me for being there........they had an ideal childhood with lots of friends over all the time.........the friends love to come to our place.........
I do understand now why my mom had to go back to work, however I didn't enjoy being a latch key kid........having to stay inside until my dad came home from work as my mom often had to work overtime........
Each person finds their own path.......whatever works for them.....
When they were still in early elementary school, my husband added on a studio at home.......and he was also a "stay at home dad" while working all day. He was there if they needed him. I was also there when I began my at home business when they were in early high school......so we were both available to our kids............the best of both worlds.
One good thing about Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, etc.
They allow "at home businesses" as long as you don't have people coming to your door and parking in your driveway, etc.........unless you are rural, then anything goes.
So, lots of "at home parents". In our lovely residential neighborhood, next door to us was an artist. He also worked at home and his wife was a stay at home mom.......mostly all of our neighborhood had moms who stayed home to raise their children. They all turned out GREAT.
THANK GOD.
