We haven't had service on Prism since last night. Is anyone experiencing an outage? The customer service line has a recording that says Pay Per View is not working in our area but we don't have anything.

Is this a fiber optic connection or a twisted pair telephone line connection?

I have a Prism install at my home scheduled Thursday morning. Starting to 2nd guess that decision. Comcast /Xfinity has been rock solid for the 18 months we've been Villages residents...

I have a Prism install at my home scheduled Thursday morning. Starting to 2nd guess that decision. Comcast /Xfinity has been rock solid for the 18 months we've been Villages residents...I cancelled my install for next week based on reports on TOTV of freezes and outages. Comcast HAS been rock solid albeit a few bucks more per month. I'll check back next year to see if they have their act together a little bit more.

I live in Buttonwood and we don't have any problem with Century Link. It's working fine.

That's very strange because we're in Buttonwood as well. It's very odd that an outage would be so spotty. Wish they were forthcoming with more information. I just keep getting the same recording when I call. No chance of speaking to a real person. Grrr

My Century Link was repaired today. The repairman said there was an update gone bad and 241 customers went down. They brought in many repair persons to correct this mistake. My system is working fine now. The repairman said there would be some heads rolling over this mistake. ***#### happens sometimes!

I've had Century Link for a year now. No freezes! No problems!

We tried Prism for 2 months, experienced the freezes, went back to Comcast and very, very happy!

We have generally been happy with Prism and have not experienced any freezes. This little experience is making me rethink things though. After calling the number for upgrading service, I finally got to talk to a live repair person. They have scheduled us for a technician sometime on FRIDAY!! Said it was the best they could do. Unbelievable.

ironically I went to prism from comcast because of those same problems with comcast service. I am in Hadley, no problem with reception here.

My internet in St. James went out...took CenturyLink 24 hours to send a repairman. All he did was to go outside and push a reset button. He gave me the same story---they downloaded bad programming! Why didn't they tell me to push a reset button? Instead, I was without internet for a full day. Soon moving to Collier and will not get CenturyLink!

My Prism TV has been fine. Lost Internet ( CenturyLink DSL) for 2 days this week. Repairman fixed something in the outside connection. Hey, **** happens. I've been more pleased with CL than I ever was with ComCast.

It is fiber optic.

Actually it’s a Hybrid Copper/Fiber network. Fiber cable is run from the central office to a distribution box in each neighborhood where the light signals are converted back into electrical signals and sent over the existing twisted pair lines that go to each home in the neighborhood. Comcast uses a similar scheme except the fiber signals in the neighborhood are converted and sent over existing coax cables.

Century Link’s Prism service is a relative newcomer to this hybrid digital networking, so some problems are to be expected in the beginning but will likely be ironed out over time.

There was an article in yesterday's Daily Sun stating that it was a bad software upgrade and all those affected will get a $50 rebate.
