Just wondering if any of you know if there is enough wall depth to put in a pocket door from the hall way into the Laundry room of the Sunflower (or Begonia)?

Since both the hallway door and the garage door open into the Laundry room, I can see this as a hassle when carrying groceries or laundry etc.

Maybe just eliminate the door??

We have the Begonia and have found the inside door necessary. We only close it when doing laundry but wouldn't remove it because it really mitigates the washer noise.

Good to know!! Thanks for the input.
Do you know if the option for a pocket door is available? I can't get a framing diagram so I can't tell the dimensions of many of the items I am curious about.
Thanks!

the wall depth is not an issue at all they fit is standard walls.

It may other walls adjoining or load bearing walls.

But we love them all over the place

I am looking at our blueprints (begonia we are having constructed) and it appears that the walls are wide enough. Question is if they are bearing walls. We thought of it but did not pursue it. For general living yull probably leave the door open anyway. (in our present house in Maryland, that's what we do). When y don't want guests in the laundry, just close it.

Looking at the sheet of available options, I don't see it as an available option. Of course $$$$$ will probably buy anything. Simple thing, just ask your designer.

Our SA told us that the wall is not long enough to provide for a pocket door. I realize the width of the walls are adequate. But this wall is too short to conceal the pocket door. I will have to just stumble into the door knobs as I carry in groceries etc. It just looks a bit tight!

We've been in our Begonia over 2 years now and I have yet to find it an inconvenience. Unless you have an exceptionally quite washer/dryer, I bet you'll appreciate having the door when you're doing

I'm happy for you - you'll love the house.

My husband and I have an Iris and our garage and laundry room doors also both open into the laundry room. When we completed the walk-through with our builder, I asked if we could change the door to a pocket door. While the builder will not make the modification, he did give us the name of 2 local companies that sub for the developer who would switch out the doors. If interested in the names of the companies, please IM me.

The wall is not load-bearing and is long and deep enough to house a pocket door. The only item our builder said we'd have to watch for is the screws holding up the cabinet in the laundry room. We are definitely making the door change once we make our permanent move to TV.

We have a pocket door between kitchen and laundry which works great but for the door going to garage make sure you request a glass or half-glass door so while loading and unloading laundry that you avoid your significant other whacking you with the door....giggle...I learned the hard way....Now we have a glass door
