While catching up on area news, I came across news about area hospitals...
1. For financial reasons, Monroe Regional Medical Center has decided to lease out its operations to Health Management Associates.
Munroe lease talks on track (http://www.ocala.com/article/20130715/articles/130719796)
Ed Dean takes on complicated task of winding down MRMC (http://www.ocala.com/article/20130725/articles/130729827)
2. Recently, patients in the burn unit of Shands Hospital were infected with a drug-resistant bacteria.
Shands bacterial infections occurred between March and July 22 (http://www.gainesville.com/article/20130730/ARTICLES/130739983)
I am posting this just for your information. I feel some people believe that better health care is always available "out of town" - that local health care is deficient.
Whenever we are hospitalized, we must hope that we don't have an adverse event while we are under their care. Every hospital is facing challenges these days, from clinical to financial.
