What you capture with your camera is well beyond photography.

You have the soul of a fine artist and I relish looking at your photographs.

You are just amazing.

Yes, I am now sacrificing my passionflower to the caterpillars but love watching the butterflies flutter around.

It has been a great year for butterflies. Of course,I didn't have any nectar or host plants last year. I have had some black swallowtails lay eggs on my fennel, but I don't have enough, and a couple plants died. Something is eating the caterpillars, I guess geckos.

my poor passionflower isn't thriving either. I probably have to move it to a sunnier spot

Ah, Gracie, thank you for your kind and generous compliments. I am LOVING using a camera as my artist's pallet now that I can no longer paint. I am also learning the art of (sigh) patience.............

My last oil painting before my vision took a nose dive, but I think it was a happy accident as I am having more rewarding personal results from photography

Mine is thriving but the caterpillars are devouring it. I could spray but would rather see the butterflies flourish.

OH NO, Please don't spray! The gulf frittillary uses the passion flower as a host plant. The caterpillars NEED you!

I use Dollar Store Zinnia seeds for an attractive show of blooms, which also attract butterflies. The flowers are colorful and compliment the landscaping, but the influx of beautiful butterflies and dragonflies, is a bonus

amazing. those zinnias make nice cut flowers too but you probably can't take them away from the bflies. I've got milkweed and have monarchs daily. The caterpillars are being eaten.. birds and the bumper crop of frogs. well it's a good thing I'm not in charge of nature. It would be nuts deciding who doesn't get to eat.
thanks for growing host plants for the primary purpose of caterpillars harvesting them.
is there a group of lepidopterophiles (is that a word?) in TV?

Yes, I know, that is why my plant is riddled with holes and ragged leaves.

Kitty, I sit patiently and wait for the right moment to take a shot . My camera is simple and it's one close up feature is a manually operated to a 4 x 15 close up. Mostly it's patience :)

Schaumburg, the mountains in my oil painting were based on my memories of the Alps. I used a pallet knife to create the rock effect

Arrrggghhh :( my camera battery "died" and needs re-charging just as a "swarm" of butterflies arrived in my zinnia garden...

Oh no! Today I noticed the wasps were eating the Gulf Fritillary caterpillars on my Passion flower vine. Mother Nature can be so harsh.
