Amazingly, CNN carried the entire sentencing of Ariel Castro without their famous annoying "pause" button........

Being a rainy day, we had tuned in to CNN from noon on and were quite impressed with Judge Russo's "litany" of charges against Ariel Russo.

It was almost as if he was playing with his mind.....letting it sink in how many "ten year sentences" for each count........all adding up to 1,000 yrs.

Actually Life without parole plus 1,000 years.......

************************************************** **********

"There is no place in this city, there is no place in this country, there is no place in this world for those who enslave others," Judge Michael Russo told kidnapper Ariel Castro.

The court in Cuyahoga County is seizing the property of Ariel Castro and imposing a fine of $100,000 on him, in addition to his massive sentence.
[Breaking news alert, 1:45 p.m. ET]

"A person can only die in prison once," Judge Michael Russo told Ariel Castro Thursday in handing down a sentence of life in prison plus 1,000 years. The judge called the sentence "commensurate with the harm you've done."

************************************************** *********
The judge spoke for quite a long time, after Castro spoke......
Later, the judge called him a narcissist.

Castro thought they had lived in harmony.

We had followed that case since it first broke.... when they escaped......

Back at the turn of the century, many of my Italian cousins from the same town my grandparents emigrated from.........settled in Cleveland Ohio.

We actually have Russo's in our family tree. This judge was awesome.
He seemed to pretend to be tallying up the "counts" and the "years" when in actuality he no doubt already had it all figured out......ahead of time.

I can't believe Castro's lawyers already will appeal. I mean....he signed the plea agreement, as the judge stated. Go figure. Plus, at the last he asked if he could get parental rights for his daughter, fathered and born in captivity.

Life plus 1000 years, Castro doesn't seem too bright, maybe he's trying to figure out how old he'll be when he's released. Maybe he figures that with a better attitude and good behavior he can get out in life plus 500 years.

That judge was a great guy and true Ohioan. He talked softly and articulately and carried a big stick.

I would like five minutes in a small room with that despicable man Ariel Castro who kept saying terrible things like it was consensual and we lived in harmony. He locked them in the garage for three days when he had company. The filthy little b..

Unfortunately this low-life scum bag will be treated better in prison than those three young women were for 11 years. It's too bad they can't chain him to the wall of that deserted house and leave him there with one meal a day and a plastic bucket to use as a toilet. Instead he will receive three meals a day, clean clothes and medical care as needed for the rest of his miserable life. Hopefully he will be put in the general population.

A satisfying day in Cleveland!!! And thank God those young women didn't have to relive everything by having to testify.

Hopefully he will be in a cell by himself, so he can feel being incarcerated, like those girls were. Then, put him out there with the rest of the prisoners, so they can treat him, like he treated those girls. I just can't believe what we see in society today. Hopefully, we will get to see more news on people who do good deeds, and deserve the praise they are entitled to

That's exactly what my husband said....that he should be chained to a wall, etc., etc., etc.

I think he will not survive in the general population.
They will get to him........just like they did with Jeffrey Dahmer.

One of the local Cleveland TV stations mentioned that he may be placed in the same prison as serial killer Anthony Sowell. Sowell was convicted of killing 11 women on the east side of Cleveland. Maybe they will share the same cell.

Confessed Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro could serve prison time with serial killer Anthony Sowell (http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/local_news/investigations/Confessed-Cleveland-kidnapper-Ariel-Castro-could-serve-prison-time-with-serial-killer-Anthony-Sowell-)

He seems to be pretty evil as well.

I just read this on MSN online news:

'Plenty of time to think': Castro's 'hell' behind bars will be mostly in isolation - U.S. News (http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/08/01/19820156-plenty-of-time-to-think-castros-hell-behind-bars-will-be-mostly-in-isolation?lite)

Southern Ohio Correctional Institute.....

Wonder what type of reading room Castro will be able to borrow from?
