We recently had the above unit installed in our lanai. The lanai is nice and cool. But the noises of the pump is about to drive us both crazy. If you had installed this in a bedroom you would need ear plugs to sleep. This things runs about every two minutes for about 10 seconds. I noticed from the literature they make a pump model called a silent plus, has anyone installed one of these?

We had three of these units installed in our house in MI because we have base board heat and a central A/C unit would have been a major undertaking. This system does work great and we love how quickly it cools off the upstairs bedrooms without having to run A/C all day, it also works as a heater in the winter if the outside temp is not below freezing. But the pump noise also drove us crazy. When he first installed them last year, he turned off the pump in the master bedroom because of the noise, he said that it will still drain okay and the pump was not needed, I had the guy come back a couple of weeks ago and disengage the pumps on the other two units. He had to make some changes for the drain tube on one of the units because it needs to be lower than the unit.

Is this the same one that's sold at Home Depot?

We had one installed by SunKool a few weeks ago and it is very quiet. We run it all day and are in the lanai a lot and haven't noticed much noise. You might need to have the service people out to look at it.

We have 5 of these units in our apartment in India. We usually run one of the units in the living room 24/7 and then turn other room units on and off as we enter and leave the room (if we will be in the room for some time). They cool a room down very quickly without the over capacity that can make a room feel clammy.

We have no heating as the lowest ever temperature in Chennai is about 68F.

Our units are by Toshiba. We do not have pumps on the drain lines. However, the drain lines must be cleaned about every 2 months to prevent the blockage that will cause the unit to drip water on the floor. This may be because the units are filtering out some of the things that make air in Chennai visible to the naked eye.

I have an LG Minisplit in our VA home and it is completely quiet. Only noise is the oscillating fan that moves the hot and cold air.

You may need to look at how the unit is mounted. You may be getting vibration noise if the mounting is not insulated or solid.

Had one put in my lani. Didn't want the pump noise, tubes and pumps in my wall. The neighbors leaked at pump joint, in the wall. What a mess. Had mine done with gravity line to get rid of condensation. Drains down and out one of the panels near the floor where a window pane was.

What a shame that the installer did not point out the different models to you.
