We are very excited about the home we will be building in Gilchrist. Our design meeting is in late Nov. So I am expecting that the house will be done in Feb sometime.

We have been running the numbers to see if we can accelerate our our retirement and actually move at that point. Right now is is 50/50....

We have considered offering our brand new, never lived in home (boo, hoo!) as an unfurnished rental for 1 year, as one option for us.

That is certainly NOT what we want to do, but rather what we may HAVE to do.

Have any of you had experience placing your new home for rent?

If you have, I would love to hear of your experiences. I have visions of coming to our home to LIVE and finding it dinged up and dirty. Hopefully that is not the normal experience.

TIA

We purchased our 1st Villages home new in 2004 (Summerhill Ranch home) and immediately put it into The Villages unfurnished program. We moved down here in 2006. The home was kept in excellent condition...no problems at all.

I would guess it depends on how lucky you are.

I would hate to have to do that. Just me. I like to be the person to ding it up myself.

My feelings exactly, Gracie! There in lies the dilemma!
