I am new to Medicare [United Health Care -HMO suppliment] and will be having my knee replacement done this October in the Villages. Do you have a doctor you have used that you had a great possitive experience with? I only want to do this once, so I want the best I can find. Please reply back to me with your experience, it would be very helpfull. Thanks

You will hear this name over and over. The very best is Dr. Duke in Ocala. I believe he has done over 3000 hips and knees. He is a graduate of Univ. of Florida Medical school and completed his internship, residency, and fellowship there. I believe he is also part of the faculty there (and UF has an excellent orthopedic department). He did my total left knee last August and I was quickly back to full activities. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Just for another name to consider...
Dr Kerina from tricounty orthopedic. Offices at 466&rolling acres and operates out of Leesburg hospital. He did both of my total knees, 3 years apart, and I had great results for these two very complicated surgeries.
He, like Dr Duke, does over 300 knee replacements a year.
These two, Duke and Kerina, are the best around.
One more thing to consider is Dr Steven Nguyen who is from the Orlando area. He does a new side entry incision that purports to reduce pain, cut less muscle, and quicken recovery times. He does seminars in TV. I have talked to a couple of folks that used him and they all had good results.
Just make sure you do the therapy!

You might want to discuss this with your doctor:

I'm starting to have second thoughts about my replacements...
