I only play TV Executive Courses, all levels 1-4. I average 7 over par.

I will be playing in a charity event and the registration form requests my actual golf handicap or an estimate.

Assuming the above info, what would be my estimated golf handicap?

Thanks....

Most charity events have a number of ways to arrive at your handicap. Call them and discuss what they do to arrive at a handicap. One charity asks golfers to bring 10 executive scores ( actual score cards) and determine a handicap from those scores

I agree with you.....sounds like he would play bogey golf on a championship course.

From what tees do you hit?

I'd say 18 or 20. It is hard to say because you are playing par 3 courses. You are using irons, not drivers or woods.

Have fun regardless.

I would say you have to ask the folks running the tournament. Depending on the type of the tournament, their priority should be to protect the field. For many years I ran a tournament the day after Thanksgiving in MA :cold:. It was always a challenge when someone wanted to have a player on their team with no handicap.

I used to ask the question: if you played 5 times, what would be your best 2 scores? This is not bowling, your average is irrelevant. Even though the end goal was a fun day my feeling was that I would rather estimate someone's handicap low that to punish the teams in the field with handicaps.

They will have a whole different challenge than I did as you only play courses that have no rating.

IF you maintained that parity on 18 hole courses. This assumes that you can drive accurately and a reasonable distance, then the 14 over par for 18 holes multiplied by 96% (that the factor that converts index to handicap) then you would be a 14.4. So, if your drives are in the 200+ range playing from the middle tees (generally, but not necessarily white) AND on the 14 driver holes you have a decent shot in on about ten of the holes, then the 14 is a reasonable guess. Middle tees generally play from 5900 -6400. If you play less than that, add one.

bk, I've watched lots of villagers playing with drivers and woods from par 3's

Go with 18. Probably lower then it would be by a couple strokes, but also no one will call you a sand ******. 18 would work out for all.

As an aside, you can carry a "sort of" Executive golf handicap by participating in VEGIS (Villages Executive Golf Information System). You pay $10 and report your scores on line. Google it for the link.
