If you have a 2nd freezer, where do you have yours at? In the house, garage, or maybe other possible place. Does this work good for you?
Thanks
Have a small upright freezer and it's in my laundry room. Works well there for us. I have a Lantana and the laundry room is right off the kitchen.

Same thing here. We have a Bonita CYV and our upright fits perfectly in the laundry room. Love having it too. It allows us to buy meat at Sams Club and other frozen good at Publix when they have BOGO offers.

Unless you keep it full, it works to hard in the garage due to the high temperature. Your AC will skyrocket. Inside is best for the hotter states

I would say wait and see if you need one. We had one up North but we ate at home alot and as we aged it started to sit empty. When we moved we didn't bring it along and we don't miss it. We live close to Publix and like buying our meat fresh. We do cook alot but eat out alot also. I find our refrigerator freezer is large enough and when it gets full, it's time to clean it out and throw out the freezer burned items. Good luck.

We have a 2nd fridge/freezer in our garage. Comes in really handy for cooling beer, sodas, etc and the freezer is great for bulk items. I'm happy with my electric bill here compared to what I paid further north so it's not an issue for me - worth the convenience IMHO.

We have an upright freezer and it lives in the garage. We have a solar attic fan, so the temperature in the garage is never warmer than it is outdoors, and most of the time it is 5-7 degrees cooler than the outside temp. We keep the freezer full with bargains we find at the different grocery stores.
Our highest electric bill has been $137 since we moved here 15 months ago. We have a cottage-style home.
We have a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer, a second fridge in the garage, a freezer in the garage, an electric golf car we put about 50 miles a week on, two computers, home entertainment equipment, two printers.
I should mention that we do have a gas range and a gas water heater.
I say get a solar attic fan and then go ahead and get a freezer if you are going to keep it full. Vacuum seal your freezer items to keep them fresher longer and avoid freezer burn.
Here's another hint for you: the lovely Diane and I have a salad for lunch almost every day. We use up leftover meat, veg, and other leftovers on the salads. We'll even dice up cold leftover pizza into crouton-sized bites and put that on our salad.
We throw hardly any food away. The average American household throws a great deal of food away.
Waste not, want not...more cash for fun stuff.

We moved the laundry into the garage and made a pantry where it was previously located (Lantana). Had a dedicated circuit installed in the pantry for a freezer/refrigerator if we decide we need one.
