The minimum cost to fly a copter, the last I checked years ago in Ft Lauderdale, is $150/hour. Plus ground instruction. You cannot rent a copter until you have a commercial license. (That is if you can find someone who will rent a bird to you.) I'm not sure what it is, but would guess 300 hours of flying time, plus two faa check rides. Renting a high performance bird would be $400/hour and up. It's a very expensive undertaking. Just go to Leesburg Airport and take a few lessons in a Cessna 150 and see how you like flying. If you want to pursue the hobby then written exams, physical exams, check rides, dual instruction, bad weather, high winds, etc....

That's why I gave up flying as a hobby and as a flight instructor. :duck:

Hi Don,
My husband has a Helicopter, here in Pa..A Schweizer 300CBI, he also has a flight school, and gives flight lessons..You are right about the cost but it would be a great idea for the Villagers...Just a thought!!
