Lantana length of rod for ceiling fans?

Can someone tell me the length of rods I need to install fans in living room, and bedrooms in a cathedral ceiling lantana? And are the lanai fans flush mount?

I am in the process of installing a couple of ceiling fans in our house in MA. I found this link helpful:

Kitty, my new designer home in collier has the 12" rods on the fans in the cathedral ceiling rooms.
May I suggest you purchase remote controls for the fans if you plan on changing the fan speed or if your fans will have a light.
Doing this would eliminate the chains hanging down from the fan to adjust the speed and control a light.
Just my 2 cents.
