View Full Version : It was very unusual to see a starter smoking!

I haven't seen this before. Sunday afternoon, our neighborhood group played at Amberwood. The lady who was starter at Oakley was smoking a cigarette. She was outside of the shack, standing in front of the window, but, smoking none-the-less. It surprised me. I have never seen a Village employee smoking on the job. I wonder if there are any rules about that. Maybe not. ::)

How old was she? I'll bet just like rudeness, younger people are more likely to flaunt the rules! :)

My guess is she was about 65. Pretty young, I would say. ;D

And no doubt attractive. So you were willing to cut her some slack. Good thing you're not working in a casino these days.

Getting back to generation observations, in another thread someone mentioned how the influx of younger people were no doubt responsbile for an increase in rudeness. Of course it may be true but it may also be safe to say that we sometimes generalize over a few observations. Personally, I think rude people come in every age group, every gender, and every ethnicity.

I am real curious about this reply. I don't know where I "cut her some slack." I'm not sure about the casino comment, but I'm curious.

I agree with Nitehawk's comment about New York City v. Rutland, VT. The folks in NYC are much less rude.

And I always thought a smoking starter has something to do with a broken gizmo under my car.

You asked what I meant about being a casino dealer. Under Chuckle I posted a joke a few days back about a Gambling Blonde. The moral of the story: for an attractive woman, the male dog will overlook most faults. On second thought, she couldn't have been that attractive because you took issue with her smoking.

Funny you should say that. Regardless of how attractive (and I do look and I do appreciate) a girl/woman is, as soon as they stick a cigarette in their mouth, they lose all beauty to my eye. Sorry, smokers, that's the way I feel.
